1) You level up to 50. 2) You do quests. 3) At 50 you raid for gear. I gurantee you that this game will introduce nothing new. When this game finally comes out in 8 years I'll pull up this thread again. |

You think it will take 8 years? ...I don't think it will... but that's my guess. I'm more willing to bet that once they get the base game down and a fairly sizable content load, they'll release what they have and continually add content (Dimensions, Luna, etc) as it goes. I give it 2010, since they were working on it for 2+ years basically already. - CaesarsGhost Lead Gameplay and Gameworld Designer for a yet unnamed MMO Title. |

I seriously would rather wait for Marvel's version of a superhero game. |

Originally posted by MoonDragn This was marvels version. Some of you should visit the official site and see whats there. It's expected to release next year, and they already have some gameplay footage in the trailer for the game. Get CoX out of your heads, this is NOT going to be a remake of thier first game. It's already much bigger. Wish Darkfall would release. |

Wait i think they may have some form of in game money and there will be people from asia saling it and spaming their wears. What about we see what they do and see if the game if fun. I don't care if the game brings anything new to the mmo table all I care about is will it be fun and balanced with a huge replay factor to make me come back and play more. If god loves the fools ,and god loves every one, dose that mean we are all fools. |

Oh goodie, predictions for a game not yet in beta -- I love those. Seriously though, what exactly are you expecting from the genre? If the gameplay is stale, it's probably just time to move on.... Originally posted by MoonDragn Cryptic actually bought the rights of the Champions PnP. When I say rights...I mean the characters, the world, and the backstory. When it comes to the HERO System, the character customization, the most info we've recieved is that it is inspired by HERO. What they mean by that, is that they want everyone to have the ability to be exactly the hero they want to be, by allowing everyone to access every power. Yes. That was a shameless plug. |

Hehe I find this very funny..
Everytime I read a new or semi-new thread about an upcoming game(maybe not even in beta) in this case not in beta I find this. I read a post from somebody merely pointing out a flaw in the game, then I notice a big signature representing the game. i read that guys post with the signature and always is just defending the living hell out of the game. This is the true definition of fanboi...Or is it? This game isent even in friggin beta not much can even be said at this point. Well maybe its not that funny but I sure find it amusing..

Finally, someone who understands what this change in license REALLY means! I am surprised to see negativity here. Well, not entirely. I just disagree with the negativity. I love Marvel too, but I don't think an MMO where you watch Wolverine and Hulk and Spiderman do all the cool stuff is appealing. When I see Marvel characters, I want to play as them. Creating your own character is cool and all, but less cool because you'd be in the shadow of all the Marvel greats. Marvel is a great license, but NOT playing as iconic characters is a huge letdown, and in another way, so is seeing others play as them. Marvel MMO = lose/lose. Champions is a rockin' license, and it really is a lot better for this sort of game. After reading the preview in Game Informer, and thinking about the Champions license, I can only conclude that this is the perfect IP for an MMO. "The keys are in your hands. Okay, let's be honest from the start.
Whatever you do at max level, you can SOLO/GROUP/RAID and it will give you the SAME rewards. These devs are not suddenly going to become stone aged morons because 95% MMOs devs are backward.
2nd, if you don't like leveling up, don't play it. The game you will see while leveling up, THIS IS IT!
3rd, If they can stop nerfing for a year or two; it will be MORE successfull than anything except WoW. They have PC gamers, they have 360 gamers.
No matter if they really go ACTION-packed (and lose players like me), or if they remain RPG-oriented (as in CoX and prolly interests me a lot)...I see this game changing the market. Heck, for all I know, maybe they will have ACTION-servers (l33t skills and reflexes) and RPG-servers (think as CoX), that wouldn't surprised me. Having different servers based on the gameplay you prefer would made sense...or to allow the player to switch gameplays, but then, this is getting edgy while making groups and would require some thinking. - "If I understand you well, you are telling me until next time. This game is merely over a year from release. In 2 years, it will have more subscribers than WAR + AoC + EvE...and I am not sure if I will play it or not. - "If I understand you well, you are telling me until next time. Originally posted by K.o.v.e You're right. I was defending the game due to the fact that I'm excited about it, even if it is a long way off from being released. At the same time, people who come into a thread like this and bash them with the same amount of intensity that I defend it, are at the same level, just on the opposite end of the spectrum. So I can use the argument: "This game isent even in friggin beta not much can even be said at this point." |

Well all I can say is WOW!! I played Champions WAY back in the 80s and loved it. I spent days creating those Heros I loved in CITY OF HEROS and most of them came damn close to what I created on pen and paper. The combo of CRYPTIC and CHAMPIONS IS A NO BRAINER END OF STORY! Even if all they were going to do was shine up the graphics and change npc names the game will still be fun for those that like the Super hero meliu. But , infact, they are doing much more and I am Super excited and will be there to try out the waters as soon as it is released. |

Originally posted by Celestis1000MMOs rarely introduce anything that is surprisingly new. Most innovations come in small steps. What CO will do is learn (hopefully) from the mistakes of CoH and make the necessary adjustments. You don't have to be revolutionary to make a great game. Look at WoW. Still, CO will have little innovations like a personal arch-nemesis that you create and will try to thwart your character. I think that's a pretty novel idea. And it will be made for the 360 so expect it to launch within 2 years. Considering consoles have a limited lifespan, any launch longer than that would be crippling to the game. |

It's gonna be like D & D. If you haven't been all over the card game, pen and paper or w/e, then you will be a nub. My prediction for this game:
