SOE is offer a reward for 57 month veterans of Star Wars Galaxies.  The reward is a homing beacon which allows faster travel to home faster and avoid Imperial checkpoints and tollbooths.

Citizens who have been part of Star Wars Galaxies for 57 months will receive a great reward for their loyalty this month as we introduce the homing beacon. Need to avoid Imperial entanglements at the starport? Have to get home in a hurry? Save time with the homing beacon veteran reward!

Placing the Beacon

The homing beacon, the 57 month veteran reward, allows pilots in the system to land their ships from the space station above their home. Placing the beacon in a house or other building will mark that location as a direct landing spot for any starship.

So by my estimates, they will probably not be giving anyone this reward - I would like to meet the fool that has been playing this since launch and stuck with it through the whole fiasco.

I'm sure you still have to schlep your way to the nearest starport to head back out into space; this is a one-way operation.

It would be pretty neat to land just outside your house, with the ship their visibly on the ground, but I'm fairly certain that you'll just beam directly to your house (as you do when you land at a starport) with no immersive visual candy.

This is yet another "hearthstone" type innovation in the SWG world.  Thanks to our friends at Blizzard for giving the SWG crew another idea to steal.

It's very useful crap for a broken game, and it's NOT enough to make me want to play WOW.  I play Tabula Rasa instead! 

I feel bad for the SWG devs.  Some idiot makes them reinvent the wheel twice, and by the time they got back on the track, even the basic character/environment interaction is light years behind even the free-to-play games.

Nothing like playing a Master Jedi that can't seem to mount stairs from the side, or jump, for that matter...

yeah, I imagine it's probably an option when you comm into the spaceport, that just takes you to the loading screen.

That reminds me of the good times I had with my buds flying the Multi-player ships.  Under-powered, under manueverable, and near impossible to aim turrets in, but man, what a blast... yet another good idea shipped 75% complete, and ignored thereafter.

I've been talking about this since JTL launch. How cool would it be to have a large enuff city to where u can place a starport convo. This is gonna be a welcome addition to a kick ass game. lol light years behind F2P games... ROFLZ... gotta love those very vocal butt hurt minority. Stay in WoW and let the adults play SWG. Point and click ftw aye? pfft

lol let the adults play SWG ....... ive seen the SWGs new playerbase. And sadly WoW's is better, all SWG is now, is a poor attempt at making a star warsy iconic WoW

Looks like they're handing out vet rewards for every three months your account has existed.  Not active, mind you...my original account got a 54 month vet reward window popping up during the most recent vet trial which ended last Saturday.

I just replaced the AMD 2600+ system I built for the launch of SWG. I can't remember being that excited for launch ever since. I know our guild leader is still on Bloodfin and active. A few of our LotRo kin just went back to SWG after a trip through Tabula Rasa. They say that they're actually having quite a bit of fun now that they've "rerolled" and just bought in whole hog on the post nge 2.0 stuff...

If this game launched with JTL we'd all still have accounts I think as it would have been something truly innovative (mixing mmo and twitched-based mechanice) as opposed /jump as someone pointed out earlier. They still have one of the more advanced avatar creation systems (though the models are showing their age) and I have yet to see a housing system in an mmo this side of sims online that has as many items and options for placement. I also really enjoyed running a large harvester farm and dealing in raw resources from across the galaxy. Being able to fly back to my house from space was always one of my dreams in this game, and it looks like with this reward they've sorta half-assed it once again for SWG. I can't imagine what it's like going into work at this development studio anymore. How can you get excited about a game that has so much negative press, especially when you know that you work for the MMO darkside (SOE)?  

Can I ask why most of  you even bother posting if all you're gonna do is trash the game?  In fact, it seems none of you play it now or maybe even ever, so why bother reading anything in this section?  I saw one person say people still playing are machocist, but something tells me you guys and gals ragging on the game, yet taking the time to read every article about the game are the real winnners.

So seriously, are you waiting for that one impossible announcement that they're gonna return to the original pre-NGE?  If so, you might just accept that will never happen and move on with your lives.  Leave these forums for the people that actually play and maybe even enjoy this game.

I agree with you I just got my 51 month reward and iam still enjoying the game. Yaeh soe made some big mistakes but even with them this game has kept my intrest like wow, lotr-online, eve, coh and even everquest didnt. I not a great combatent get my butt kicked regularly but thats the fun at moment iam desgining the interior of several houses for an imp player friend ( Iam  rebel jedi) and placing hidden cameras in them iam also enjoying the fishing  and also helping new players understand the game this game offer more then just combat so I say dont listen to these negative comment come to bria and i show you around just send a tell for grayknt

There is no ship that will land- you cannot park your ship on a landing pad. They are taking all the shortcuts they can for new content. The lore is so messed up with Jedi running everywhere. The community has taken an intelligent memory loss. 

lol.....SWG is a wicked game. Anyone who slates it but hasnt played it for a while needs to go back and re-asses. With droid commander a few months away and PVP reaching massive scales (on ahazi especially) SWG is the place to be at.

I played WoW. Not my cup of tea.

well me being one of those orignal launch vets, the numbers are  more like 500k minority with the possibily of it reached 600-700k range so hardly minitory considering there is barely 75-125k left in the game. but I've gotten to the point I can careless about the state of the game. though I do like to stick my head into the SWG forums to see whats going down,makes for good debates, and reading material in general lol. regardless of outcome the Game is broken, will never go back so I agree to some point, move on. I have, as long as Im not paying for it, I can careless if it tanks or barely gets by. But I will always voice against fraudlent and misleading facts about the state of the game and what it offers.

there is an old saying " a Fool and his money is soon parted"
