I still want to know why you are blaming rats... and furthermore why you are considering them evil... |

Rats were the source of the black plague. Rats are a sign of uncleanliness. Rats are rodents. Rats eat corpses. Being a rat is not a good thing. Like a rat-bastard. Willard used rats to kill people. Rattatouie is a Disney production. Hell is infested with rats. Anything else? |

Wikis are not supposed to work like that. You are supposed to contribute and moderate, not go around removing all (factual) negative information about yourself. The part they repeatedly deleted mentioned that SOE had made controversial changes (actually in that sentence they only deleted the part about Star Wars Galaxies, leaving it to read that they had only made major gameplay changes to EverQuest) and that the NGE was the most significant example of this practice. I don't believe that information was out of place in the article. If they don't want to have negative information about themselves in articles, they should probably stop shitting on their playerbase and maybe do a good job on one of their games or something like that. |

Which is the bottom line. No amount of PR, spin, fake articles, one sided "interviews" and Wikipedia editing is ever going to improve SOE's reputation. Only large, drastic changes in SOE's business practices themselves, along with a TON of apologizing, crawling and scraping at the feet of their customers and former customers can do this. One thing that you have to understand is that SOE is a part of Sony. Sony is the most arrogant, anti-customer strong arming corporation in the electronics and entertainment business. They think nothing, of slipping a rootkit onto a CD, for example, and care even less when they get caught. Fines and such aren't enough to punish a company the size of Sony because they represent less money than they spend on toilet paper in a month. They have been caught numerous times running fake blogs, planting articles, etc. They are the iconic example of corporate hubris. Now that they've won the HD DVD war expect this inflated sense of entitlement and ego to only get worse from here. Back to SOE. One thing you have to understand when you wonder why someone like Smed still has a job after all his numerous failures and piss poor, anti customer reputation (Smed would hands down win any vote for "most unpopular figure in MMO gaming) is that he fits RIGHT IN with other Sony managers. They ALL operate the way Smed does. They are literally peas in a pod. To really go off topic, SOE, Sony, and John Smedley are excellent examples of why corporate law needs reform both in the United States and elsewhere in the world. Actions like the rootkit, and the fraud of the NGE and the TOOW expansion should land people who decide to do them in the slammer. Fines should be set higher so as to HURT the bottom line of companies for doing such dishonest actions so as to be a DETERRENT to doing them. Executive officers of corporations should have to forefit salary to pay fines. And, there needs to be such a thing as a "corporate death penalty" which would allow especially egregious repeat offenders to be dissolved and their assets auctioned off. Right now the law with respect to corporations and individuals are very unbalanced. Things that would land an individual in jail for a corporation can routinely shrug off as "a minor cost of doing business".
Play the NGE TC(s)G</a>! It's Free! Its Fun! http://sturly.com/qd2 I encourage everyone who doubts the word of those who reject the NGE to try it for themselves. http://tryswg.com |

SOE - a company that doesn't really have a noteworthy hit (any longer) in the MMO industry makes 136 edits. Blizzard - a company that has the pinnacle MMO hit to the tune of 10 million players, only making 41 edits. I think its fair to say with their playerbase, one would expect a bit more fooling around with public articles about their company/game. Had they had 136 edits, I'd say all is well, but its clearly not. I'm not really a Wiki person, but I hope those who are will keep the fight going.
