Ok i have to admit seeing those video's makes me really hope this game is real. They look gorgeous. i dont know enough of the 'in's and outs' to comment on whether this game is vapourware or not but what i can do is pray that it is. That video looks amazing! the characters look great. very detailed scenery too.

Does anyone here have any idea of just how far this game is right now?

It isn't.  The game is a hoax.

The following is my opinion based on the fact that the Greek government is partially funding the project.

Seriously, this game is being financed by the Greek government.  They have absolutely no incentive to get the game to market.  The longer they take to make the game the more money the developers get.  The dirty little secret about game industry is that 95% of the employees are needed BEFORE launch and if there is no "next project" then most of your staff is unemployed once the game releases.

The people making the game are doing it as a hobby.  None of them have real world MMORPG experience.  They are just milking the development cycle for all they can before someone in the Greek government decides to call them on it.  Until then, they have no incentive to get the game to market.

Hmm ok but i would prefer to play a game that was made as a hobby rather than the so called experienced mmo devs as they will maybe add personal touches to the game. as for it not being released....well maybe not, but i think there are much bigger conspiracy's to follow than the whole darkfall one :) so ill keep an eye on it and see what happens :)

seems a lot of work to do to then let it slip :) especially when they could just go get a job with another company if they are talented.

Point taken but stranger things have happened.  For example, a former company known as P.E. had a game called Gods and Heroes:Rome Rising thru beta with pre-order boxes on the shelf.  The game was a month or two away from launch and the company shelved the game so they could concentrate on Star Trek Online.  Fast forward six months and P.E. not only cancelled Star Trek Online, they completely shut down.

It is indeed a strange world and time that we live in.

Dude, learn to read.  I was responding to Shuke's comment about it being a lot of work to let slip and I was just using G&H as an example of a project complete that a company shelves.  I didn't say or imply that it had anything to do with Aventurine.

What Aventurine does have is financial backing from the Greek government so they have absolutely ZERO incentive to hurry up and release.  The tax payers of Greece are paying to keep the lights on at the Aventurine offices making DFO.  Easy, to the point, and 100% accurate.

Now, what part of that do you not understand?
