This doesn't seem so cookie cutter as most f2p games are. It truly breaks free of those garbage games korea keeps sending us. The game has nice controls, nice graphics and performance. It really feels like a true adult themed game unlike garbage titles like 2moons. Requiem has better gore too :). The towns and environment look amazing. This game is really going to be hot once people catch on.

3 months later... bots, gold sellers. So enjoy it now while you can ;).

I think so too.     I loved Lineage ][, still do, but taking a break from it, although I feel Lineage ][ is a huge cut above most of the Korean games.    Some of the recent f2p games, like Shaiya and Perfect World were actually pretty good, but Requiem blows them away imo.

My hope is they offer one special PvP server that is open PvP.   At least in that environment, you can kill the gold farmers and bots.

I am a L12.5 (decimal levels do not exist) defender and I am enjoying the game. I plan to reach as high as I can, explore the world, and see other gameplay mechanics.

I like the graphics. The graphics are not cartoony nor too realistic but not in those middle. It is above that middle. The graphics can get laggy but you can lower the settings while still retaining the quality

You can customise your controls. It does not alert you whenever there's another key using another character. It overwrite the current selection with whatever you are pressing without alerting you of errors. I like this compared to Shaiya where I always get an error so I have to delete the key using the character of the desired key before I can put a new character into the key I want.

The combat is like World of Warcraft. You can have up to 12 skills onto your skillbar while going to a designated skillbar. There are 10 skillbars, making 120 skills accessible for hotkeying. You approach a monster, use your skills, and when dead, watch its body parts go flying in random directions far and the body twitches a lot to the extent that it looks like it is having a seizure.  I find one of  the addictive part of this game is the death itself. Player are also subjected to this. You can see them twitch but not have their body parts blown off.

Certain monsters only appear in nightmare time. Nightmare time is at a certain time at night, from 2300(I am sure) to some time 400(correct me if I am wrong).  The game keeps an ingame 24 hour clock time to itself.  5 seconds is equal to a minute, so 300 seconds or 5 minutes in life is an hour in the game. Certain quests require you to complete in that time. I do not worry if I can finish my quest in time because nightmare imte will come back and I have a high enough DPS to kill enough monsters.

The organic monsters look like mutants or degenerates and nightmarish. I saw a zebra-like monster called a ziebalt that had its underside what seems to be its muscles and its heart pounding and tree-like mutants complete with head and arms that pops out from inside its trunks to name a two. The inorganic(they are not bloody) monsters so far are rock monsters, golems and a rock monster that has a huge boulder attached on top to tiny arms and head compared to the boulder. They can still twitch and have their parts detached when dead. The specters look bloody when dead and I was not paying attention about their death. The specters looks identical to humans and were not transparent. If the level gap between you and the monster is high enough, then you receive less XP.

The world is set in fantasy mixed with technology. It has magic along with typical fantasy setting things mixed with DNA,  very old styled looking planes for payable automated travel, electricity(not an ingame mechanic) and mechanical fans but no useable guns. DNAs are upgrades for your character one you reach levels greater than 9. You can only have 5 at a time but you can discard them and replace them with no refunds.

There are no item sellers except for accessoric things(rings, belt, earrings, necklace, wrist to name them all) and potions. You can get the rest of your gear items from killing monsters of the same level. There's a 5-10% chance that you can get a good item from killing monsters that will replace your current gear. It is not 90-95% that you always get something from a monster. The 5-10% chance is from looting monsters not from the total items you get.

You can upgrade your weapons at the blacksmith. The upgrade require ingredients called xeons and a price.

You get quests from NPCs but there is an NPC that sell an array of scroll quests. You buy them and accept the quest. The scroll quests have a level requirement because they are sending you to monsters around that level

There is PvP. You can join a 8, 16, 32 or 64 man groups vs 8, 16, 32 or 64 man groups. You join in by talking to an NPC but I have not join in yet.

There are player guilds

There are bugs. The ones I have found are being stuck on a mountain after loading while pressing, character screen and inventory screen, monsters going the wrong direction, and text problems. The text are understantable in English

These are what the game is like. I am enjoying the game and finding it addictive

"I rant, therefore I am"

YAY...I finally got a character up to level 10 (so I could pick my career path)! I agree, this game is awesome for a free-to-play game. So far the only thing I wish they would add is more avatar customization - that way not everyone's character looks the same. Other than that, I cant wait to test out the other features of the game.

Question - Do you have to press a button, or buy a skill to see Nightmare mode?

I agree with avatar sameness. My character looked exactly the same as another player's, equipment and all. hehe

Nightmare mode happens automatically.  What occurs is that the original mobs are there, but Nightmare spawns also appear

Do we need to be a certain level to see them, or does everyone see them at a certain time of night?

Every one sees them.   For example, in the outdoor Mines, "Nephas" only appear during Nightmare time.

In addition to 2x-3x mobs appearing at Night, there are also mobs that only appear during the day, like "Sea Monsters".

It is a very engaging game on multiple levels.    Even in closed beta, I'm loving the game, and expect by the time open beta and release approach, it will only get better.

This was a really nice surprise.   I was not following this one at all.
