I logged in on my froob account last night without issue. I do remember years back that at times it would do that for us (my GF and myself) with RK1 or 2.. so we ended up playing on both. One or the other would just show down all the time for extended periods of time. The servers would actually be up tho... you could try looking around the tech forum. If its that same issue still I'm not sure I never saw a work around. I was logged on RK1 last night for a couple hours and this morning but only for a short time today. |

| "We already have two operating MMOs. We launched a game called Ultima Online in 1997. It's still got hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Then there's Dark Age of Camelot, we also have a situation where we have well over 100,000 subscribers." -Frank Gibeau of Electronic Arts. Does it seem odd that UO has more subscribers than the best RvR game on the market? |

It sounds like a firewall issue. Try the following:
1) Download and install the 'large' client 2) Run the program (no need to register or anything at this stage). It should start downloading a series of 'patches'. 3) Once all patching has been done (may require restarting the client several times) start up the client with a proper username and password. If it thinks the servers are 'down' then see about temporarily disabling your Anti-Virus/Firewall software. If the game can then be launched and connects to one of the main servers, then you have pinpointed the culprit. You might also have the relevant ports blocks inside your Internet router but changing that gets even messier.
FYI, AO uses the following ports:
"IMPORTANT: Playing AO through a firewall New servers recently added to the live dimensions increased the ports being used by the AO client, those running the game behind firewalls may need to open up the following ports in addition to those already used by AO:
TCP ports 7500-7600 "

ok thanks for trying to help. i tried what you said, i installed, but it never patches. i click on the AO client, it starts up, it checks dimensions or whatever it does, and it says the server is down and [need patch]. i try to patch, it says dimension down, select valid dimension. i tried turning off firewall and norton's, and i still get the same crap. will i have to port forward in the router ? |

Sounds more like a firewall issue. The game is trying to connect but can't due to your firewall not being setup properly to allow it to connect. |
