I read in here somewhere that Turbine has a new release or something new they plan to announce in the future. Is this true or not. I'm not a fan of Turdbine, but i do have a soft heart for AC2. kind interested in knowing if they are making a sequel to AC/AC2 sometime. I checked their web page and didnt see anything about this or anything like it. |

I posted a link in a couple of other threads (I'm too lazy to find it) that stated they had hired a guy sometime in August for work on a new unannounced project. I hope that is related to something in the AC franchise but as of now its just speculation. Turbine hasn't said if or what new project they are working on. |

I highly doubt it's another AC, it seems too soon for that. I know they have expansions planned for DDO and LotRO. |

This was the link about the other game. I don't think it has anything to do with either LoTRO or DDO xpac. The main hope I have is their new CEO. He was the main VC guy. So they probably have their financial situation worked out better now with better terms. I assume since the new CEO is more of a business type and not a dev turned CEO, that he will maximize and leverage all Turbines assets to generate revenue. As far as I know Turbine does not have any other IP's they are making games for so that would leave their own ripe for getting more subscription money in the door. Wouldn't it be hilarious if it turns out Turbine is the mystery company working on the new star wars mmo that is rumored to be coming out. |

Whatever the new game is, I hope it doesn't use the piece of crap AC/DDO/LotRO engine. It stutters and no building interiors (without zones) irritates me to no end. Sadly, if work already begun I bet the new game will use the same engine. It will almost certainly be a near LotRO (WoW) clone since that worked out so well for them. |

Funny, there are numerous posts complaining about AC2/DDO/LotRO's horrid performance. It does look good, but it does not play smoothly. You do realize when you click a door in LotRo and DDO, a load screen pops up, and then you enter a new area. That is exactly what a zone is. In AC1 you just open the door and walk right in the building, there is no load screen. |

I remember when I first tried lotro my biggest worry was what Jaguar stated. The AC2 engine used to kind of suck. It always looked pretty but performance was not that great. I really didn't like not having interiors to walk through as well. When DDO launched the engine still wasn't smooth and reconfirmed my opinion that they needed to drop that engine and get a proven one. Well after playing LoTRO since launch, those issues are really non factors for me now. I was very skeptical that turbine could get good performance from their engine and they have crossed that hurdle. Graphics and engine performance is as good or better then any MMO out now. That is one thing I feel good about AC2 was all the learning that went into updating that engine into what LoTRO became. The engine and common platform that DDO, LoTRO and the unnannounced new game is one of Turbines strengths. Every new MMO coming out will not have a proven engine that has been used in a successful MMO. Sharing that platform that started with AC2 allows them to be much more effecient with their resources and focus on content and systems rather then constantly looking for bugs with poor performance ie vanguard. LoTRO = the house that AC2 built. |

Originally posted by -Jaguar- it's not the same as for example, butcher block to faydark, or faydark to steamfront. in lotro, you can walk or ride a horse almost anywhere, sure there are "instanced" caves and such, and inside of buildings, but you can ride your horse or walk from angmar to bree, straight up to rivendell through the lonely lands without zoning once, swift travel is a different story because it works like a teleport. only other game i can think of off the top of my head that's like this is vanguard, and even with all the patches, the game is still not even close to the smooth performance as lotro
