I reformatted my computer a while ago, and just today got interested in playing Guild Wars again. I bought the Factions and Nightfall campaigns, and I have them here, so I installed them both. For some reason though, I am able log in, but once I get to character selection, it only shows one of my characters, and when I select any of the slots, a big red box says I am not authorized to play and that I need to buy the right campaigns to do so.

I contacted the account support and I am waiting on an answer. They got back to me saying to give my account activation keys and my email address so they can try to resolve the issue.

So while waiting, I figured I'd ask and see if anyone had a similar problem, and if they had actually gotten it solved?

I've been to a few forums, and I see people have complained about it before, but none have actually said they've got the issue resolved, and most posts are from a couple months ago or more.

i guess you have linked both the access keys for nightfall and factions into one account? if so only anet can help you resolve this issue and if not you really cant access nightfall.

 

btw you didnt have to install both factions and nightfall you just need to install the latest game in your case nightfall.

 

hopeing that they will resolve your concern

Why is it bad that I've linked both keys to the same account? I thought I was supposed to do that. Back when I first got it, I could go onto any of my factions, or my Nightfall characters and stuff, and I assumed I couldn't go to Factions areas, or vice versa, without it being linked to my account.

Well, this is what games without monthly fees always are -- a hassle. It's really too bad. I thought these guys actually knew what they were doing.

That's really odd.  I've never had any problems re-installing GW.  As soon as I put in my email, i'm connected straight to my account and off and running.

If you log in and click on Edit Account, then select Manage Access Keys, what products are listed in the top box?

None. According to this, I've never put any of the games on this account.

you have to add the keys to your account and then they should activate and give you extra slots too.

I added the keys to the account a long time ago. My character from Factions is even showing on the first character slot. But it's saying I am not authorized, and that I need to purchase the campaigns again.

I tried going to "Manage Account Keys" or whatever and putting in the ones I have again, but it says they're in use.

Going on day two now with no answer from them yet.

Give this a shot Gajari. Right click the GW shortcut on your desktop. Where you see the location of the .exe in the box, click at the end and make a space. Type -image and then press enter. Now run the client again and let it update everything. Once everything is downloaded, go ahead and go into the shortcut properties and delete the -image command. Run the program normally and see if that fixes your problem.

None. According to this, I've never put any of the games on this account.

Sounds like you're using the wrong email.  I can't explain your characters being there at login, but as far as I know there's no way to remove keys from an account.

Thanks. Didn't work though. :(

Also, I'm using the only email I have ever used for it. I tried all the other ones I have, and they don't work on it.

It's something on their end, not mine. I just wish they had a phone number to call rather than going through this online bullshit.
