I played WoW in all resolutions, yes the game looks more clean and crisp, but nothing is going to change my opinion that it still has annoying goofy cartoony graphics. By saying higher resolution will significantly change the quality of the look and "feel" to it, you're basically sugar-coating a pile of shit and calling it candy.

Your not talking about quality, your talking about style.

suu141:  I'm going to have to disagree with you on the "feel" of the screenshots.

Take a look at LOTRO:

Low Res:

High Res:

Now.. you're really going to sit there and tell me that the low res screenshots "feel" the same as the high res ones?

Because they don't feel the same to me.

Okay, first off . . . actually, nevermind. I'm not even gonna bother with this one . . . - deucallion

LMAO the reason it is in beta is for trial and error....wait for the game to come out before you try to bash it......and btw bro....cant you tell that pic was made on a low resolution? lmao if you have a better cpu the game looks better.....play wow on 800x600 then bump it up and tell me it dont look like the dif between Psone and PS3 lmao

A game being in Beta is no excuse. Regardless of how much they improve the graphics before release, the basic over-all initial "feel" of it will still be the same. In the end, it all boils down to each individual's opinion of 'you love it or hate it'.

For those who think looks doesn't matter, do you believe a ugly fat person with a heart of gold has the same chance of finding a date as a super-model with a heart of gold? Which one would you rather have? It's a matter of opinion, right?

haha some people have fat person fetishes!!!!

I for one do not.

If I am going to pay money for an MMO I want it to be fun and have a lot to offer. I don't care about graphics as much. If you base it off of the tabletop and novels they are doing quite fine. If you want to compare it to Vanguard and EQ2 and the like, then it isn't going to suite you. I can't play something that sucks and looks pretty though.

Graphics are fine. The problem is that the game is basically a WoW clone. We don't need any more of those. Its a shame too, i expected more from Mythic.

So a game that focuses on PvP is a clone of a game that focuses on PVE? WoW focuses on bigger PVE fights ( and now cut back on that to 20 man things) compared to massive pvp battles that WAR is aiming for.

Currently playing: WoW -Retired SWG Beta Tester (4+ years)

I would like the graphics to be 'less cartoony' and more 'realistic' (as real as WAR can be,... fiction).  But I don't want the game to be so real that creature and player movement is stiff or buggy.

I have leading/bleeding edge PC hardware.  That's great for me.  But for the players that don't have top-o-the-line gear, if they have to upgrade just to play... well, you've just lost a nice chunk of your playerbase.  Yes, some die-hard WAR players would do it, but they would lose a ton of 'potential' players.  So, some of the 'alternative' forms of art-styles come about to help make the game playable on a wider variety of systems.

That being said, I think many games have 'higher-end' graphics in the game and available for configuration/setting adjustments.  Obviously you can't augment the art-style of the game, but you can adjust many levels of detail that make the game look 'better'.

In BETA... you are testing the functionality of the game.  You are looking for 'bugs' and what's broken in the system.  Nobody really needs you to 'test' anything on appearance.  Sure, feedback on graphics from the customer base is important... but if you can't play the game due to bugs, what good do all those high-res features really do?  Benchmarking can be done in a lab, to test the game at various resolutions and with various system configurations (and internet connection speeds).  What you see in BETA is a nice idea of what the game will look like... but really, you're there to test functionality... not form.

If I had my rathers... WoW would 'look better'.  It seems that your character really only looks good in full suits of armor with enchants on epics weapons.  I really don't want that to be the case with WAR.  Your character should look good and appeal to you from the start.

it has more DAOC feel, and its 100 times better then WoW anyone that things this is a wow clone needs to re think their statements hard. your basicly saying then that WoW is a DAOC clone, WoW is a very boring game after a while, DAOC never got old.

I'm talking about the "quality of a certain style" in terms of detail when I mentioned the "feel" of the game, which the OP is trying to point out. Style has no meaning without it's little details to show it has that, style.

If you still don't understand what I'm saying, here's an example: The OP mentioned gritty atmosphere, so maybe he was looking for cattle droppings and rats everywhere, dead bodies lying around, there's a house on fire but everyone is ignoring it, etc.

"When you're born you're naked, when you die you're naked again, and in-between all we do is work, eat, and play MMOs."
