I'm leaving WoW simply becuase I think PvP took to much focus by now, making PvE "only" about seeing the content. I believe that Blizzard have screwed the game up completely by now, pleasing the PvP'ers and the casuals so much that the game makes no sense anymore.

The games at the top of my list of possible replacements are Aion and AoC, but some information concerns me.

I'm asking the users here if they think this game will be something for me after having read the rest of this post.

My biggest fear is that this game will be to casual and/or to PvP-oriented. I like PvP, but as a bonus to good PvE experiences (like it was in WoW from the start, maybe just a little bit modified so endgame "raiders" are not that overpowered).

I like it when determination matters and I don't want a game in which skill matters more than dedication. I want a game in which the main priority is gathering the gear and learning abilities, not a game that any FPS-player can enter and dominate after 3 weeks simply because he's got faster reflexes than the next guy. Of course skill should matter - and always will - but if it was only about skill, why not just play any FPS on the market?

What I'm looking for in a game is:
• Dedication paying off in the long run
Upgrades should not be to easy to obtain, and they shouldn't be given to people for free after a certain amount of time. Working for your gear over an amount of time should benefit you and matter more than anything else.
• PvE-content and a point in building guilds
It should be required to find together in guild-like groups to see the endgame content. Also, PvE should be the main focus of the game. Abilities and skills should not be changed all the time due to the developers trying to balance PvP better.
• Not to much hybrid-fuss
A healer should be a healer and a tank should be a tank. All the hybrid confusion seems to me to make games to advanced for the developers to keep them balanced.
• Nice controls and Interface
One thing I really enjoyed about WoW was the nice controls and the possibility to tweak the interface a lot. These features are next to a must for me when I find my new game.
• Balanced requirements
I need a game in which it pays of to spend quite a lot of time, but not a game that requires me to play 10+ hours a day. I will probably spend 20-25 hours a week or so and I don't mind not getting the very best gear with that time put in, but I would like it to be enough for getting somewhere in the game.

What I'm really not looking for in a game is:
• PvP balance dictating all skills and abilities
• To many changes made all the time that requires people to change playstyle.
• A whole lot of people below the age of 17

With these things in mind, do you people think that Aion is the game for me?

It's hard to say cause you're pretty much asking for a game made just for yourself, will it have some of the things you want? sure, will it have some of the tings you don't want? probably.

You will probably end up either dissapointed or converted (who knows) since the game will have a heavy focus in pvp, after all, it's a RvR game, however, if your pvp experience is limited to WoW only i'd rather hold my horses, since the pvp in wow is pretty much nosense, there's almost no drama involved and the massiveness of those is quite unexistant.

Dedication will end up paying off, obviously, however, this is a game where everyone can participate, anyways, you play 25 hours weekly, that's not hardcore at all actually, so I don't get why you want such a severe dedication reward, there are people who will play 15 hours daily and if the game is that rewarding, you won't ever manage to stand a chance against a big quantity of people.

Hybrid fuss? There will be some in solo content, but i'd put my money that in party play people will play their roles. Healers will be able to solo, but in party they will probably end up doing what they are meant to do.

Hard to say if controls are nice right now without having it tested, but the GUI interface won't be like wow (a lot of exploits in wow were cause of that same feature you ask here).

From what I get you are looking for an item centric game, and Aion might have that, but it will be also pvp centric game and you might dislike that.

Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?

You expect too much... expectation is only met with disapointements.

AION will be a good game and have many of what you are looking for but it's not a game made only for you that is for sure.

No, look for something else...lol. You my friend are an unadaptable sludge.
OmG, why does my mage keep changing how I play him? Grow up. You aren't making the games. The way games are progressing or leveling out obviously says that the things you want in a game just aren't going to be done.

By the way, In WoW there really hasn't been many changes in play style. A mage is still just a mage.

I'm responding to this because I am so sick of folks like you who think more time in a game grants you the high rise penthouse over the peons on the street. We all pay the same price to play these games. We should all have access to the lore for one, which the culmination usually happens in endgame content. But because I like being solo I should never know the story? Dude fuck off!!!!

Troll over and out.

OP, you are basically asking questions that no one can really answer because the game isn't out. Heck, it's still in closed beta.

There will be a pvp focus though from what I get, people don't have to pvp (for the most part) if they don't want to.

This game is made to be more casual.

After that, who knows.

Nice and very usefull comment. You're one of those guys that helped ruin wow by saying "give pvp'ers ownage items cause the raiders don't deserve them" and "don't let anyone benefit from hard work, cause I pay the same as they do", I bet?

Well grats. You're one of those 50% that keeps forcing serious gamers to new mmorpg's cause one game after another is gradually made more and more hollow.

As a note, it's perfectly ok for me to ask these questions, it's not like I'm already in the game demanding that they change it to please me, is it?

And another note: I played a hunter, a holy priest and finally a warrior tank in WoW, and for the hunter and priest a lot changed due to patches. For instance they removed the deadzone for hunters and spirit is being buffed for priests all the time now, forcing those priests that built and geared up for mp5 to change their ways. WoW forced priests to think in boxes, forced them to go for tier-sets. Those are major changes.

But I'm really really sorry that I'm looking for a game that would suit me. I fully accept that certain people would burn me alive for being so selfish. NOT!

Have you tried playing EQ2 or FFXI? I suggest giving one of those games a try while everyone waits for Aion!

It seems like more and more people are becoming selfish when it comes to what they want in a game and can't fully grasp them if they're anything short of perfect. It's ok to be selfish, we're only human that desire to be entertained in a dull reality.

It's hard to say if you'll like Aion. There's no concrete evidence of whether or not this game will have all the features you desire.

Unless you're willing to accept a game that isn't 100% perfect and  is designed to meet most of the preferences of millions of other potential customers, you will be disappointed the rest of your life. If a company happens to make a game with all of these features, then I'm happy for you.

Because more and more people are having this state of mind towards games. It's no wonder everyone is complaining about everything. Since disappointed gamers are increasing everyday, regardless of how fast the game industry is growing, the general public will cause it's downfall because they're demanding too much from game companies that can't fully oblige. Eventually, big companies like Microsoft, NCSoft, SOE will buy out all the small companies that have no hope in making "different" games. When the game industry crumbles, only then will people realize they took games for granted.
