NCsoft and ArenaNet have announced that Guild Wars sales have topped five million in the North American, Asian, and European markets.

Bellevue, WA. February 26, 2008—NCsoft® and ArenaNet® have announced that the Guild Wars® franchise of online roleplaying games has surpassed five million units sold in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Published by NCsoft and developed by ArenaNet, the Guild Wars franchise consists of the original Guild Wars, Guild Wars Factions®, Guild Wars Nightfall®, and the recently released expansion, Guild Wars: Eye of the NorthTM. The Guild Wars games have been commercial and critical successes since the release of the original campaign in April of 2005. Its award-winning content and innovative subscription-free business model have created a large and loyal following that is highly anticipating Guild Wars 2TM.

"Guild Wars is a proven success and has set a new standard for online RPG games with its unique business model and superior playability," said NCsoft CEO Taek Jin Kim. "ArenaNet is dedicated to creating games that expand the market and provide great new content to our loyal player base. Congratulations Arena. You pissed me off enough to quit towards the end of the current iteration, but I've always admired your business model and concept. Don't get (much more) big-headed, though

Great job! i play GW everyday and never seem to get tired of it!

Nice, that's quite a success considering how different the game is when it comes to way of playing and so on. Must say it proves that not all players want the same things over and over. Keep going ANet, I hope GW2 also turns out be equally good.



Xfire doesn't seem to recognize WAR, so read WAR 25+ hours.

My respects for Anet keeps growing, just had a nice conversation with a GM, and now this. Incredible :). And don't forget, the number probably lies higher, Australia and Africa aren't counted in the 5 million players. And I have a few people from Saudi-Arabia in my guild, and some Australians.

You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
