Hegelian dialectic, Reichstag fire, Federal Reserve.
Look those 3 things up and set your mind free.

I am on the trial yet again, seriously considering subscribing this time.  But I'm bored already.  I stole a bunch of ore and I'm about to buy a frigate and equip it to kill some RATS.  But thats not going to be fun for long... Then what to do?  How long am I going to have to subscribe and not play just to gte my skills trained high enough to be useful in PvP? I like territorial domination, and want to join a clan that tries to hold certain sectors for mining or whatever.  I want to basically be a guy that goes around killing people who are not suppose to be in our area.  How long will I be skill training before then?

What to do next depends on what you want to do, that's the whole point of  "sandbox" type of games. You mentioned killing people, well, this game has to offer  a lot of killing. You can kill people even in frigate, but your role while in frig mainly would be "tackling" others, it's like not letting them fly away/holding then in one position/etc, you got the point.

If you want to kill and always look after your back, consider being a pirate, they kill and get killed themselves on a daily basis, it shouldn't be hard to find a pirate corporation, or anti one :)

As you probably already know there are tons of skills, but it's not that hard to chose between them if you know what you want to do, but remember - if you want to pvp in some serious ships, like for example battleships/t2 frigs/etc you need to have good ISK income, without it pvp ends real quick.

This game takes a lot of patience and learning skill-wise before you can engage yourself in really big combats, like low-sec ones.

Once you'll understand the fundamental basics of this game, in other words "when you'll understand how this game works" the life will get easier, trust me.

Also, PVP in EVE is very different from fantasy games where you get to max level, get best equip and you can kill everyone, forget about that, this won't work here. You will lose ships frequently, depending on how often you'll engage in PVP or visit low sec space.

This game is harsh, cold and fucking awesome if it's what you want - welcome to hell.

I hope I helped you.

join a good "learning" corp.

i recommend eve university. Great guys will teach you everything from basic pvp ships to large scale fleet movement to high end industrial activities to all out war.

I was in PVP 31 hours after my 1st log in for my newest character. My corp got dec'd  the day i joined and next day .. blam! i'm in a war in empire flying a merlin tackler or a griffin ECW. good times!

31 hours old and flying and being effective in fleet battles. cant beat that anywhere else.

i would recomment you get evemon and EFT. ( http://evemon.battleclinic.com and http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=548883 )

the 1st to set up your toon, and it plans your most time efficient training path to get to what you want to do.( say you want to fly a sniper BS it will put all the skills you need in the most time efficient order) and EFT shows you how ship set ups would work for you using either your actual skills ( loaded from API in game) or setting to what your skills will be in the future.

that way you can get trained up the fastest and know what you want to train for.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

I'll tell you this. Dont sit around and "wait" for skills to be done. You can have skills up to the armpits, but if you fly like an idiot, its going to be IMMEDIATELY noticeable and you will die.

Basically what im saying is: play. Become familiar and comfortable in your ship before you upgrade to another one. If you like territorial disputes, those are in NO short supply. Its everywhere. But once again, no corp or alliance that has an agenda or is any good will harbor a shoddy pilot for very long. Get into Eve University or  a learning corp to learn about fleet, gang, and solo combat.

Or you can wait for your skills to be done, find a nice expensive ship and fit it with lots of good stuff, and come have a nice little chat with me ... where no one can hear your screams

You can start to pvp right away with the most expensive ship you can afford. Save up for a cruiser and come hang out in a system called Rancer. I'll see you there it's my home base.

everytime we went there local dwellers  started spinning ships in stations and spewing crap in local chat from behind their docked ships. Stop chestbeating about Rancer.

to the op check eve forums, there are tons of new players having fun pirating in frigs in low sec.

Been playing EvE for about a month and half now with a few friends, definately agree with one of the previous posters, don't wait, as soon as i could i moved into lowsec after being bored out of my mind running missions, now hanging around in lowsec space, ratting, earning decent cash from faction drops and always have to watch who comes into local, as for time, im still flying a frigate as i just love the rifter, take you a couple of weeks at the most to fly a frigate with tech 2 fittings, then just hunt down people your own size.

I'd definately check out a corp, makes the game more fun too.
