If you try to fail, but succeed, which have you done?

I would either recommend this or LoTRO

I''m not a troll, I''m an Ogre!

Ogres like trolls, Me thinks dey taste great BBQ''ed!

With you being her guide, it should be very easy for her to learn, the game covers all the basic's of a mmorpg and has more advanced features than most mmorpg's, so I think it would be a great learning game which will most likely spoil her for all the other mmorpg's out there,( others will argue differently)

downside of EQ2;

- you will need a fairly high end pc to get the best graphics out of the game.

- It's expensive per month.

I personally think it's a great game, better than most on the market today.

hope this helps.

15.00 a month is NOT expensive, it is the standard mmo pricing plan and it equates to 50 cents a day. MMO's in general are the cheapest forum of entertainment in existance.

That's your point of view and justification and I'm sure you will stick to it.

That is just not a point of view but a fact.

So, basically 15.00 a month is too much for you. Let me ask a couple questions and lets see if we can make it affordable.

Do you do any o the following in any given month?

  • Eat out
  • Go to a first run movie
  • smoke
  • drink
  • rent movies or games

If you do any of those items at least once in a month you can afford 15.00 a month. However if you do not do any  of those things and still cannot afford it, I would seriously reconsider playing pay to play games.

Now don't take this post as jumping on your personally as it is basically directed at anyone complaining about a monthly fee of 15.00 for a MMO which taking infalation into consideration they could be charging 30.00 a month and get away with it.

I think eq2 is a good game for a newbie to the industry.  It has an ok tutorial to kinda get you going with the basics and the game play is pretty straight forward and not very harsh when you make mistakes.  Mentoring also makes it easy for a new person to get help from more experienced people without trivializing the entire experience.

And as you grow into eq2 there is a lot of depth you uncover that will keep your intrest up where with other games you might get tired of the repetative single track...

I say give it a try.  It is a good game, and doesn't really have a steep learning curve or anything from my experience.  If that doesn't work you might try LoTRO.  Me and my husband have had a lot of luck getting our friends who have never played an MMO to start playing this game.  It helps a LOT to have someone you know playing who already knows the game well enough to give you some pointers.

Worse case scenario, if you can't get her into it, (and I hesitate to say it due to the all of the haters out there) then you could try WoW with her.  WoW is very easy to learn and play so it's easy to get non-gamers into it.

It's great being able to play with your significant other online.  Some people go out to eat and to the movies together, we spend time hunting and questing in alternate universes.  Nothing like completing a quest you had no business doing to bring you closer ^^

Good luck!
