The folks at Hellgate: London have released their plans for the next three game updates at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.  The updates include two smaller patches and a major content update called "The Abyss Chronicles".

Perhaps the most sought-after information that Hellgaters are most interested in on our forums is insight into the future of Hellgate: London. After a great first day at the Games Developer Conference, we'd like to offer a kingly scoop on this very topic. And so, without further ado, we lift the curtain and reveal our plans for the next three Hellgate: London updates. Note that while the bullets outline the contents of each patch, they are actively being worked on and will have more thorough patch notes upon release.

Patch 1.2

• In-game mail with the ability to attach items.
• Marksman skill adjustments.
• Many bug fixes.

Previously known only for its sweeping changes to the Marksman class, Patch 1.2 will add in-game mail, a hotly desired feature. Additionally, a great many bugs are addressed in this build, many of them reported by the community.

Patch 1.3:

• New functional pets.
• Warp to any player in buddy list.
• Emotes.
• Text bubbles over character heads.
• Display party member level and class.
• Inspect other player's equipment.
• Link items into the chat.
• Split stacked items.

Sounds like they'll almost be feature complete & ready for beta after that patch comes out!  What's that? What do you mean it'll have been out 6 months by then?  Hmm...

How much of this will be subscriber only?

Sounds like they'll almost be feature complete & ready for beta after that patch comes out!  What's that? What do you mean it'll have been out 6 months by then?  Hmm...

i agree most of that stuff they listed is things they should have had implemented in the beginning. I see no reason to subscribe or encourage a company  financially that ships out an incomplete game. but for some the choose to turn a blind eye to the obvious, but its there money.

There is an old saying " A Fool and his money is soon parted". read into it how you wish.

I've been playing since beta and I really enjoy the game.  It is good they are sticking to updating the game and providing new content even if some of it should be there already.  I'm not subscribed anymore though I might later on this year as more big content patches are released.  It's been a rocky road but, despite the problems, the game has been quite fun for me.

 Don't worry. I hear next year they're gonna try to make it an mmo so they can justify their presence here. Should be interesting to see if they can pull that one off.

• Group PvP, PvP games, and PvP ranking.
• The Abyss "endless" dungeon.
• Big Ben/Parliament Square adventure area.
• Three new base monster types.
• Five new bosses.
• New skills for all classes.
• New high end armor for all factions.
• New weapons for all factions.
• Consignment house.
• Shared stash.
• Instance switching.

sounds pretty good,although knowing their past performances,theyll screw it up royally and introduce a whole new set of bugs and balance problems. "flagshipped".

It might end up being worth a month or 2 sub at some point.

How long will it take this list to change, just like the subscriber benefits list changed immediately following retail launch?

whhen are they going to fix the memory leak?
