Great video... The keeps are much bigger than I thought. Makes me excited about the strategic aspect of attacking/defending them. _____________________________ |

Yeah, battle keeps are freakin massive. Can't wait to see one of those get destroyed.

This video should go some way to answer peoples questions. Dungeon looks very cool. No one 'slide' and weapon animations were spot on - expecially the polearm moves if you watch closely :P

I didnt think the keeps were going to be that big, alot of strategy is going to be needed to take one of those down. |

I'm nearly possitive Keeps and Cities use the same system and also look the same. I don't know what level that city was (I believe there are 5 upgrade levels for cities) but it was huge. If Keeps are that big as well, thats awesome.
The coolest thing cities aren't static structures. YOu have some choices on what to build were. Theres other videos out there showing those building 'nodes' like you see as the guy gets ready to build the city and you can build a variety of buildings in each one. That gives some variety and lets guilds choose their own guild city layouts. Very cool. :)
Oh and yea, Polearms are sweet as hell looking. I might just have to roll a Guardian alt so I can use one lol. |

Originally posted by Katova What did you think overall? I liked the speed of the mounts and how they looked in comparison side by side like that. I remember 18 months back when the doom sayers were saying you will never be able to attack from your mount in Age of Conan "you just can't do it in an mmorpg"... I laugh at that statement when there is footage like this showing you swinging a melee weapon either side of your mount!

Graphics look excellent, how good the sieges are will depend on latency issues when a few hundred players are on screen at the same time. In the past FC have had a great deal of trouble with this aspect and I hope they have managed to sort something out that is at least reasonable. The combat system and camera controls still look in need of work. I can imagine all the Conan purists though will be mightily pissed off by how much FC have deviated from the lore. The start of the dungeon with everyone stood there buffing up is straight out of AO and all the pretty magic effects lol. Maybe Godager should read a little more REH :) |

One of the techs the game uses for sieging to keep framerates more solid is to have a sort of 'fog of war' where you cannot see anyone beyond a certain point in a huge battle. Like in RL you don't really see the thousands of soldiers in an ancient battleground, just the few that are around you. The rest is clashing swords, sundered bone and the salty smell of blood in the air. I think it's a nice idea, especially if players can adjust how far the out the 'fog of war' affect begins. That way folks on lower end computers can set it low enough that only a few dozen folks around you are in view, but those with $1500 machines can extend it out far enough that they see just about everyone. |

Originally posted by eric1000 I'd have to say you have to balance lore with game mechanics. This is an MMOG after all, so there is going to be buffing before a fight. Even if the only buffing is an inspirational shout and drinking a tonic that reduces pain or something. I think that if the game has stuff like buffing (and most of what I have seen has been fire and dark unholy magic, though the priest spells are pretty bright.) then they can keep the lore true in things like games story, characters and settings. Funcom has stated they are trying to stay as true to the story as possible, but in some things, you gotta give up some lore for game mechanics. I think it's a good balance. |

Originally posted by AmazingAvery Overall, this game looks great. The mounts look as though it is going to take a little practice to get good from fighting on horseback. The battlekeeps are huge and guilds are going to play a big part in this game. I hope they come out with an expansion soon with player housing within or outside of the city. ![]()

I loved this video as well. It answered a lot of my questions showing many different aspects of the game. The mounts look absolutely super. The mount attacks were awesome (the horse back-kicking looked very nice). Around the 33+ minute mark, he was explaining a little PVP. He was hinting that it was going to be pretty "hardcore" PVP. This is fine, but I was wondering if the PVP world is going to be an "80's only club". Meaning can other people 1-79 be effective in PVP (i.e will it be fun for them), or is it going to be a situation of one level 80 will be able to take on an army of level 40s and 50s? |
