MMorpg - The blessing, and The curse of modern gaming. |
I was reading Q&A. I finded out that in pvp we can biuld our own siege towns, or capture towers. And in pve giulds can biuld Towns. Biuld barracks, town halls, blacksmith and ather structures(in town). But again, no mentioning of players owning houses..... It is kind of stupid, we can biuld our town, but we cant live in it.....
Or there is player housing after all? and i just did not finded it yet? |

It was said in the recently posted GDC Interview. Housing will not be in at release, but is considered for an Expansion. But Gaute himself said that housing would not be in the release version. |

player housing is always a frivulous enjoyment. I personally enjoyed the EQ2 housing, however i think it would be cool to be able to build houses around (or within the walls) of the guild city. |

Having the features 'building an own city' and 'player-housing' be implemented at different times makes me worry that the houses will either not be within the player-cities (what I would personally dislike to see) or that there will just be one house representing the player-houses leading to an instanced house of the person who enters (what I would really dislike too). Those cities would really have to be huge to have enough space for up to a few hundred houses. Hard to imagine they will increase the city limits by moving the walls further out that far once when an expansion will be made. Hopefully they will find a way to add player-housing properly. For me as a RP that's one of the important features. |

Have seen seen the video showing off player cities on this website? In another longer video when they showed off the same thing, Gaute said it was a SMALL player city! IE they are massive. There should be a solid bit of room, depending on the size houses end up being, to build a few dozen small homes in a city of it's big enough.
Edit: In real world cities the castles are built toward the center of said town/city with the village around it. When they add Player Housing they could just make each City 'point' have an extra ring of space that you can build houses around and build a 3rd wall around them. :) |

Last year during LotRO beta, we testers had a discussion as to whether we wanted to see Player Housing in instanced neighborhoods, or just anywhere in the environment. At the time, I supported putting all housing in instanced neighborhoods. I no longer feel the same; I play both LotRO and SWG and I would rather see Player housing in AoC as it is in SWG, even with the sprawl. I crave more of a sandbox experience for AoC's housing than what Turbine has provided in LotRO. I also crave something that SWG doesn't allow..houses that can be attacked, defended, then rebuilt, in keeping with the world of Conan; harsh, bitter, even brutal. Let me build a house whereever I wish to, and give me a reason to defend it by making it worth it in terms of ammenities/options, and I would fight to save with my life. Let me build a hovel, a hut, a cabin, a stone house, even a tower if I wish....at the price that it could be attacked and taken from me if I fail to defend it. Give me something worthwhile to build AND defend. Player Housing should be more than just "frivalous enjoyment" and it can be if it's done right. Player Housing can add new opportunities for PvP and GuildvsGuild, and if that requires that it waits for a full expansion to AoC, then it will be worth the wait. |
