I saw a film at youtube showing the very bad rendering of trees. Due to problems posting direct links here, I suggestu do a search for "Lotro graphic sucks" at youtube or goodle, to see the film. Is is still like this? |

Lord of the Rings Online has fantastic graphics. They definately do not look like that.
EDIT: Of course it may have something to do with his settings and or graphics. I never had that problem. |

It is real easy for a person to make a video of the game on low settings and say this is what the graphics look like in the game. I can tell you from playing the game since start of closed beta and then on a geforce 4 4200 TI card that the graphics don't suck. I know have a 8800 GTS card and can run the game full tilt and the graphics look awsome. Don't always believe what you see on you tube. It is really easy to doctor videos. A person who hates turbine could do so easily and try to make the game look bad.

If you have the PC to run the game using Direct X 10, the graphics are stunning (as far as I am aware, it is the only currently released mmorpg that supports DX10) |

I could post a few screenshots i took ingame but since i sent some of them to the loading screen competition you will have to wait to see them ingame The ingame graphics is far superior to any other mmorpg out there at the moment imo.

NO they are ok ... some people rave they are great... fuzzy shader and AA effects !good. However, they are nice.. the SS look much better than in game. Still they are not omfg and they are not crap .. they are simply good. I will never for the life of me understand how people can say this. While the realism for the graphics may not suit someones taste (totally understandable), that should not take away from how amazing the graphics actually are. I run DX10 and I often stop what I am doing and either enjoy a view from a mountainside vista or stare at the reflection of a starry night in a pond. I even try to see if shadows play correctly as I pass under trees and everything seems to be pretty damn cool. The only complaint I give validity to graphics wise is the lack of diversity in combat animations, but that is in no way a game breaker for me because I am only after the result in combat and not the journey while the opposite holds true for me getting into/finding combat. Originally posted by Jetrpg well, are you talking about art design or are you talking about how the assets are being rendered? Because with everything up (and keep in mind I don't have DX 10) at max they are quite excellent. If you are talking about how the armor and weapons and characters were designed then sure, they are "good" in my opinion but nothing to write home about. |

The graphics are better than what I've seen in modern MMOGs. Playing: Star Wars: The Old Republic Waiting For: Guild Wars 2, sort of. |

Originally posted by Nikoz78 No offence, but vanguard graphics look like plastic tbh... hurts your eyes, LOTRO however is more soothing to your eyes. Played almost everything... |

Best graphics for a mmo I have seen in awhile but keep in mind alot of other current mmos haven't even upgraded their graphics engine in a long time. It still looks really nice though :) |

Post is an old one, but, I'm thinking they haven't gotten worse over time.

Absolutely not. YouTube restricts the visual quality of all videos uploaded, so even if they were using the best settings, it would still look worse than it actually is. As pointed out by others, they could "sabatoge" the video by purposefully showing lower settings - basically spreading propaganda. Here are a few screen shots of what LOTRO looks like with the best settings (DX10). These aren't mine, but saved from the DX10 screenshot contests held in December 2007: Lake Evendim Now, the graphics are also quite scaleable to fit whatever your system can handle. While I personally don't feel they look very good at all in lower settings, you can run a mid-range machine and still have them look pretty good. I run about Medium-Medium High with the following specs and it looks mighty good: 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 Check out my LOTRO Blog: www.middleearthadventurer.blogspot.com
