This is a serious post with hopes of either a EA Rep will see this or I will sent this to a EA rep , so please be serious and explain why or why you wouldnt come back....Please I ask you if you were a past player to pass this along. My general idea for reasons players dont like UO is...
1.Graphics ( outdated) 2.To items based 3. lack of classic shard ( time frame pre Age of Shadows)
Any thoughts??

Best MMO I ever played back in 1997. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then but I loved my time in UO and played it for three years. I can say that I still think of it fondly.
That said the graphics even the 3d option (which was horrible by the way) would need a total overhaul. Actually, to be honest... I think the would just need to relaunch the game ala EQ with a UO 2 and dump a lot of the nonsense that ruined the game. |

Yea i have to agree , UO3d was bad , and a complet overhaul of UO would be great. I must also admit UO Kingdome Reborn was unplayable when it was beta'd , but has come a long way and is far superior to UO3d ( even better using to the classic view)..
Thank you for response.. |

I've been going through MMOs like crazy trying to find one that was like UO pre-trammel, pre-itemization (stat loss i'm on the fence about), but it would be pre-pub 16 for me. |

It would need to be pre-Trammel and not just pre Age of Shadows. |

pre-trammel, pre stats loss. Im not sure exactly what patch... but I want the ones before they started screwing with all the murder stuff. Right around T2A and thats it WAY prior to AOS |

I don't like UO anymore (in official servers) because a) in one week I was unable to kill a single person, b) the pvpers I saw were always the same (not more than 20 different people). Many reasons for the above. Items that make you godly, and to get them you need 100+ bucks (or farm god knows for how long). Bots, instutionalized ebaying, too reliant on macroes. Very unbalanced builds which later got nerfed into oblivion getting other builds overpowered. Too little of a playerbase, etcetc. On the other hand, I'm sure lots of people still play it for the housing, the world (best virtual world ever), and the freedom of action you get there. But what really kills the game for me is the astounding unbalance created by the items. |

I would return to UO if... if it guaranteed me an immediate WAR beta slot so I can see what all the buzz is about. Other than that, nothing can return me to UO because it just isn't the same as it was back in the day.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

Absolutely loved this game, best times online from 98-2002, I would return for sure if things were back to before the item based crap started, there was a few other things i disliked but to make it all round good for everyone i think pre item base would be perfect. This damn game has set a benchmark for fun and always something to do, that to this day i still cant find another game to rival it, and its depressing!!!
edit : we will all meet again in darkfall :) www.primoled.com.au |

I have to agree with all, pre trammel (and im mainly a crafter), pre item based godly weapons, back when we could go to any town and it was full of people.
I also would have to agree that even with Stygian Abyss expansion about to come out(and last i heard there will be no further support for 2d client) there would have to be such a major overhaul of the graphics that they might as well release UO2.
Though, I love the oldschool 2d graphics still. But im oldschool.
I miss being able to sell my gm crafted items. Now its all about champs and neon this neon that. JagerBomb Played: The Realm, Meridian 59, LoK, UO, EQ1,2, WoW, SWG, LotRO, TR, EvE, FFXI, |

Yup, definitely pre-trammel before all these item based characters developed. Back when you would always have to watch your back whether you were dungeoneering or mining, doing treasure hunts or collecting wood. Some of the newer things I like, the more developed crafting system, powerscrolls, level 6 treasure chests but I would definitely come back to a t2a shard, best time I've ever had playing an MMO by far. Until then I can only hope Darkfall comes through but who knows... |

Reasons i would play UO again........ If my keep was still there. If they unnerfed sami warriors (so i could solo dreadhorn again) made it cheaper to play (hate the new KR client 2d rocks and will always rock)
too many free shards out there "It all boils down to how the chemicals flow to the brain" |

Was my first MMO and kept me playing for nearly 5 years, from days when you saw someone with a grandmaster skill you though wow! The fear/fun you had every time you walked out of a town and was always wondering when next a PK would come at you. The fun you had gathering things to make money for your first hut, the friendly community.
I wouldn't go back now, to many good memories, would'nt want to see how bad the game has got, to many items, silly coloured clothing everywhere, lots of house that look stupid because the owner just hasnt got a clue how to make it look good :) item insurance? uh! their goes having a thief or PK. No risk = no fun. |
