Bring back Earth and Beyond.

Well to negate your arguement, as a PvE oriented player I don't PvP ever.... even in games where that activity is available to me I still don't do so. If a player decides sometime in the future to engage in that activity then they can create a character on a PvP server and experience it, but to force it upon all players so that the PvP player can have more targets is wrong thinking.

JGE is going to have to limit the numbers on individual servers anyway so theres isn't any reason for them not to make the distinction of having PvE and PvP servers.

trouble on my mind
Refuse to lose.

You will be completely able to play in PVE way , without ever having to engage in PVP.

But completely removing PVP element from server , it will not happen. If game with 0% PVP is what you actually look for , i can suggest LOTRO or EQ2 - both great games and more suiting to your gameplay style

One size doesn't fit all, never has never will. Besides the size of the player base is going to have to be limited per server so multiple servers are going to be a reality.

If the game economy is even remotely like EVE the two groups will depend on each other to keep it running smoothly.  The PVE/Crafting crowd will farm/manufacture the materials that the PVP community consumes/destroys.

I don't advocate making PVE folks prey, and what few people realize is the despite its reputation, EVE has a huge amount of PVE safe areas.  No, you still can be killed, (especially if your corporation is Wardec'd) but many folks stay in NPC corps and have never been killed by another player for years.

Come to think of it, I've been in empire since late November and despite being wardec'd every other week by the Privateers I've yet to lose a ship. (was close one time though)

I am bored at the space-theme anyway.

I won't be playing a game designed that way, PvE is NOT a second-class citizenship.  So I will focus my PvE-server argument in a game I care more about...WAR!  :P

Happy gaming. :)

lol good luck with talking about PvE in an RVR ( PvP ) game :p

I can't resist, go play WoW if you want PvE :p

Like others mentioned, there are loads of PvE games out there, WoW, EQII, LOTRO.

If you want PURE pve, go play those games, please leave the few PvP games ( that even have PvE ) alone.

A healthy mix of PvE and PvP is what I want and what JGE is going to be, dont divide the population.

I also prefer to have 1 server for all.

Bring back Earth and Beyond.

Since we're talking about a space based Sci-Fi game lets come up with examples of PvE examples in that setting. Telling people to go play a Fantasy game is a rediculous alternative to a space based Sci-Fi game. The last PvE oriented space based Sci-Fi game that I can recall was EnB.

Also, because of the manner in which control inputs are going to be made a single server is not going to be possible, this isn't a point and click game like Eve. Since there are going to be multiple servers with the population being separated because one server isn't going to be able to handle the load, there is no reason PvE and PvP servers can't be created.

I just hope there won't

I hope the devs put their time into the core game, and not into other rulesets.

Eventually different rulesets die out if not done properly, and if done properly they take too much time away from the important stuff.

Go play Tabula Rasa then.

Why do all the carebears want to mess up PvP games? They KNOW it are PvP games, the DEVS TELL us it is a PvP game, but still you whine for PvE.

Games like WAR and JGE are a mix of PVE and PVP, and to be working well, both need to be done on the same server. Especially in the case of JGE, where the economy relies on Crafters and PVE.

You don't know if it NEEDS to be sharded. It IS possible to make a load balancing system where you can use multiple servers for 1 region when the need is there.

EVE Online is in the process of doing just that, but it is easier to do if you start from scratch.

There are not enough good pvp type games out there, there are TONS on pve type games.  Making seperate severs are a bad idea because you will loose what the game is about.  The first jumpgate was based around pvp, this one should be the same.  I have played too many games with all types of pvp... hardcore to softcore.  I am looking foward to getting this game for the pvp. if you dont like to pvp there are plenty of other games out there. Please dont ruin this one that is going to be based around pvp over pve like almost all the other games out on the market are.
