If if had of released sooner It may of had a chance , sadly for Spellborn with Age of Conan and War out soon its going to have its work cut out. Also riddiculous development time and lack of good info has'nt helped.Keeping people waiting and in the dark is never a good policy. I was looking forward to this about a year ago but I feel the waiting has been a real drag on this one, good luck to it tho and I sincerly hope its good enough to hold its own. |

You dont sound like you have followed the game closely. No really you dont.
Fail? Hell yea!
And we all know that AoC and WAR will be pushed back. Maybe TCoS too, but not much more then 1 month or something. Release is near. I think |

I think this game stands a good chance once they start marketing it. The game is almost totally different than AoC and War. Each game will have its players and as long as they don't aim for the uber subscription numbers, each should do well. As for long development time, I would rather have them spend as much time as possible making sure the game is a clean as it can be for release. Players don't need anymore halfarsed pay-to-play betas. |

Here is what I know about the game: Tagline "past, present, future" is what the was all about. I believe last time I checked in last with the community they decided to drop that whole thing. Ancestral quests they were called at the time.
They have fired a few people who was worth a damn and banned alot of people who helped build the community up originally. At that time couple yrs back I dont even know if they listen to anyone who doesnt agree with their decision on how they want the game to be. All I know is prior to this they made some fps game called Alpha Black Zero something. (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/alphablackzero/index.html?tag=tabs;summary) Really horrible game in my opinion. I know they have signed up some independant publishers for Germany, and some other European countries. Nothing for the US yet though... unless thats changed. This game will be in my opinion, like PotBS, made out to be something different but wont deliever to the masses or the niche market something that hasn't been done before better. I was active in the first couple yrs where a lot of change when on, and a lot of internal problems existed. I couldn't say if this is still happening (phase 4 onwards) but I heard things I didnt like straight from the horses mouth. I hope the game finds its feet and delivers on those idea's which initially lured me to the game.

The parts that take you back to the past are still in the game as far as I am aware,You will need to do certain things to trigger this event and it will change the future and on some parts will have an effect on the entire world. I really dont see alot of resemblence to WoW other that they both have pve and pvp, though that can be said about most mmo`s,Infact they have been trying to stay out of the wow mould ie no big numbered end game raids, true skilled combat, gear just for looks,no time sink crafting to name but a few things,Also ofc there will be less content than WoW when it goes live,WoW has been out for 3 years,1 expansion and I think 12-14 patches with more content,So it is pretty much a given that WoW will have more content. |

I think...and honestly hope, this game will do well. I see people gripe about the "FPS" combat...but hey...it might just rule...
We shall see...

It will be a very big success in Europe I predict. However, if TCoS will market heavily once it's in beta, the North American market will be good I think. Now, obiviously one can't tell for sure, but it seems to be a refreshng change of pace as far as MMO's are concerned. Not too different, but graphically refreshing and what I can tell from the music I have heard thus far, that will one of the strong points for the game. I also think that if developers will use the tweaks, patches, and possible nerfs before they release, that will also help greatly keeping initial subscribers. Too many games have tried to make class changes after release only to see hundreds leave angry and dissatisfied. Now, obiviously we patch to improve game play not nerf to equalize class. Make those classes as balanced as you can during beta. Good luck TCoS

I'm pretty sure this game will do at least decently well. Maybe not as good as some other games, but I know I will at least be trying this game out.
Realistically, this game has a particular style of gameplay that soe people have voiced interest in and others have reacted...stupidly?...to. The best one can hope for as with any game is that fans, interests, and skeptics alike will all try it before casting their votes and that the game will float.
I personally find the concept a great idea, mostly because like even with the graphics. They didn't go for cutting edge, they went for their own style. The hidden advantages of doing such a thing too will be there, like making a system optimized game that doesn't have extra rendering code running that inevitably slows down the system, instead having that precious data flow available to do other things like make combat and interactivity more lively.
All in all, looks like this game has a good chance at becoming at least moderately popular. As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero. - Vaarsuvius |

Originally posted by Lord.Bachus I did edit it, I took out what I thought was over harsh, thanks for pointing that out, I wrote in a bit of a rush.
Basically the experience I had with the developers was unplesant. I hope issues of old are worked on to make a good game. Its not a trash its a prediction based on experiences, the companies past and how they treated their own staff and fans at an early stage in developement. I cant obviously post stuff so I can back up what I said, and this is only one side of the story, but still, thought I'd put my experiences across. Many of the original posts from 2 yrs back have been removed. Also I did say this was a while ago and hope its changed now for a better game. Oh btw you called AoC a bugfest too citing German magazine which is outdated, if you read their latest hands on your find it different just like buffed.de did.

Bah, I was gonna offer my opinion of what I felt the chances were for this game, but I changed my mind. I'll just say that I hope it does well come release. |

My anticipations for the game are quite high. As long as it comes out as everyone expects the hype will soon catch up and this may be the golden mmorpg all of us waited for so much time. |

I like to know my toon's abilities little bit before embarrassing myself in pvp :) As for TCOS, I love what I know about it and will definitely be buying it, BUT I do think this game needs to release a couple of months before WAR if its going to keep a decent population when WAR releases. I have a feeling AOC will disappoint a lot of people... ______________ Mark E. Cooper |

I'm rooting for this game and think it will be great. I'm ok with delays if they help the game play better, but it's up against some strong competition. I'm just not sure how much more anyone can take of yet another WOW expansion. Looking forward to something different. |

I predict the exact opposite of most and I think it's War and AoC that should be worried. I think this game has what it takes. No need to flame as I expect all of these games to do well and hope for the success of each. I will certainly be playing them all. In the long run, I see Spellborn standing the test of time. Just my prediction from what I've seen, read and heard. I'm looking forward to a busy year grinding away to a favorite. Let's see where we end up....

Well, it has all its chances if it's good from the beginning (no bugs, etc) but I think games like Aion comming out later in 2008 will seriously diminish this one's chances. Eaglix |

I'm hoping that TCoS will be a great game. However, I don't think it will be released in Q1 because here it is Feb 19 and no release date has been set. Also, I think the buzz about this game has faded a bit in the last 6 months. I don't know if it's lack of marketing or lack of new info... Edit: I just read on the official website that OB for Europe in April and Release in May. Other continents to follow in Q2 and Q3. |

I am no longer interested in this game. It's going to be heavily instanced. Most dungeons and some quests as well as possible multiple copies of the same zone. |
