If I was to make my perfect mmo first off it would have free for all pvp everywhere no safe zones and full looting of everything you have on you including what you are wearing and all your money too because in real life if I kill someone I can take all there shit so why not in a virtual life. There would also be a severe death penalty maybe even permadeath. I would base it in the bible days and call it "The Bible Online!" When you die you go to heaven or hell depending on how you lived your life and would then have to do a series of things in order to get to go back to earth and live again but you would be reincarnated so you would look different. The funny thing is I dont even like pvp that much but I do think that if someone wants to attack me they should be able to and if I die they should be able to take all my stuff, just think how much more rewarding it would be to survive on one toon without dieing and being very powerful in your skills you could go around wtfpwning people everywhere and take their stuff just for the hell of it. Ha imagine investing years and then dieing and losing everything and having to start over thats the kind of virtual world I want to live in. Maybe there could be some sort of life insurance so if you die and make it back to earth reincarnated you could get some of your insured items back and banks for money etc. There are so many possibilities, basically I would want it to be just like the real world in a sense that if you do something stupid you suffer the consequences. In my game nobody would reach max skills because once you die guess what your starting over again wtfpwned THAT IS AWESOME. I have played 90% or more of all mmo's released to date and they all do things well but I have never played any mmo for more then 6-9 months and most its a month or two tops, I find myself going back to certain mmos and basically jumping around never satified. Looking forward to AoC it sounds good but there are alot of things I wish it had. My favorite mmo to date was SWG when it first came out so I guess I would use a similar skill system where you can mix and match but I would have even more options. It was the thought of unlocking a jedi that kept me playing I liked the idea of being able to get something that was rare, of course we all know how crappy the game is now so I wont even begin that discussion. What kind of mmo would you create????
The Bible Online FTW! |

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG. |
Originally posted by arobi You would be lucky to get five players. First off the "Bible" idea is terrible. People want to escape from RL not go to Sunday School in a game. Secondly, the reason games don't work like real life, is because in real life when you kill someone they stay dead, plus if you kill someone the rest of your "game" is sitting in a jail cell taking it in the butt from a guy named Bubba. Wow, what a great game! So, if you model your game on the real world, you would make it to level two, then some guy would gank you. You would be dead, and the game would be over for you, and you would never play again. The guy that ganked you would go to prison, and he could log on occaisionally to see his toon sitting in jail cell. How exciting! |

Jesus is King |
You cannot call it "Bible Online" and have reincarnation, and having salvation via good works. Blessings, |
|
| If Christianity is the following of Christ, His words and His leadership, then Christianity is the right way forward. Jesus is the One who claimed to be THE Truth and who possesses all wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:4-5) Though in Christianity many may say or do goofy things, Christ is the Faithful Witness so that is my cornerstone. When I made that decision, the world and all of its religions and philosophies suddenly became clear as it is all of Him, through Him, to Him and for Him. |

I love the death + reincarnation concept. And I think the bible online is funny as hell. Good work OP. |

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |
I think a Highlander style game would be cool. Permadeath, and every time you level you move forward in time and cannot go back....thus seperating the newbies (Low levels in distant past) from mid levels (recent past) to high levels (Future) I dunno, I think it would work Torrential |

My ideal MMO would centre around the idea of permanent death. Where you're expected to die, but what's important is the manner of your death. Making permanent death fun, is a great challenge, and not one that anyone will overcome any time soon. But it could be done, and it could be fun. If the focus of the game is shifted away from individual avatars and more towards guilds and building empires and shaping the world, and having histories - glorifying death, not so that players wish to commit suicide, but to die in the most glorious way possible. Eventually you must die, so your character should have a lifespan of say, a month or so. This would encourage players to live their virtual life to the full. And once you're dead, what then? No, I don't feel level grind would be appropriate for this type of game. Abilties would come with age, and your wealth would come with the risks you take. Fighting a dragon should be a life or death situation, a permanent life or death situation, not a respawn. This permanent-death philosophy would not work well in any of today's MMOs because they are not build with death in mind. My ideal MMO would be based around the entire idea of dying. The motto of my favourite single-player game at the moment is "losing is fun", Dwarf Fortress, which happens to have permanent death.

I guess you would have people ganking lowbies in the newb area just for the hell of it lol. But honestly it makes it that much more rewarding to survive it and make it to a higher level. I also love the full looting I hope this is in a new mmo soon. In a game like this it should be very hard to die that way u dont have to reroll everyday cause that | |
