"please ignore the fact I have a bottle on my finger" |
now, i have always liked the look of world of warcraft, great grsphics, big community, great gameplay, but the thing that puts me off is the monthly fee. i have all the guildwars games, and they dont have a montly fee, and i really like them. or, should i wait about a year, and get guildwars2, which will be just like WoW, with a unlimited level, the ability to jump, and climb, and still, no montly fee....? i wanted to know if it would be worth getting WoW, even with the fee, or just stay with the microfee games? |

How much do you typically spend in microtransactions a month? If you are only condition for picking a game is the cost then the choice should be easy. Do you spend more in microtransactions or more for a monthly subscription.

It depends what you are used to. Jumping from Guildwars to WoW it might seem quite expensive.
Before I joined subscription service games, I played multiplayer FPS games. Hiring my own server cost £200 a month. As a clan server, this cost could be split between as many people as I could convince to pay. So usually it cost £150 a month and a lot of bad feeling around bill time. A single space on a 16 player clan server for Counterstrike server goes for £7 a month. So a single slot on a 3,000 player WoW server at £10 is great value. I don't resent any money I have spent on WoW. There have been some games I have resented paying for, but WoW is not one of them. It's a high quality game and the service is great. |

I've had friends who switched over from F2P to WoW and that was their biggest complaint at the beginning, but they all admitted it later that it was well worth the monthly fee. |

Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can? - Sun Tsu |
Yes, it's worth the money and it is quite a good game if you like the lore and the PVE content. I think the PVP is a bit better in Guildwar but I did enjoy the battlegrounds... :) No matter what people say, WOW is a great game mate. I personaly dislike WOW but I did like a few cool elements in the game.

I don't mean to be a jerk but I can't understand how people will be prohibited from playing a video game because of a monthly payment.
It's only $15. It's 50 cents a day. Most people waste so much money during the course of a month it is ridiculous. If you go to see a movie and get popcorn it's $15 right there. A cover for a club is often times $10-20, a drink at a club is $10. Going to a semi-expensive restaurant for one meal is more than $15.
It's not my place to say what is expensive to who, but it's not too difficult to allocate some cash to it by sacrificing something else, especially when the game could get you tens of hours of joy per month.
Also, WoW is a good game, not my taste, but exquisitely done and it will be fun.

$15 a month is very little for someone in the US with a job. However, it can be quite a bit of money for kids. For example, my kids are getting like $10 per month for allowance and even with b-day & chinese new year money, it would be difficult or them to afford WOW.

Yup it is I mean even if you just play it for a month I think the like $10 the game is today is worth it for that month, I mean most normal games I put 60 odd down and then completed it 5 hours later. |
