Darkfall really does look like a good game, but I wouldn't get all excited over it, you will end up getting disappointed and then we will have to listen to the fanboys whining over and over about how Darkfall failed etc

If they didn't say that there would be 10k users on a server with a seamless world, then maybe it wouldn't seem like the game is gonna fall flat on its face.

Anyway until the game releases and we actually get to play it theres no point judging it now, who knows maybe they really do have a game that is capable of all they listed and servers with that many users. It just sounds far to good to be true.

Well.. noone knows when, or if it ever will release. There is no offical release date, there is even no offical beta date.
However, i personally expect it will release anywhere in the future(maybe in 1 year, or in 2-3 years), the question then is, will they have all the announced features, and will it be as good as a lot of people expect? Noone really knows, and noone will know at least until Beta.

But, if it will release with all announced features, and as good as it looks concept-wise, no other competitor in development will be like Darkfall, and it will have their community(maybe not millions, but enough), and from my standpoint it will be by far better then any other game out there.. Sandbox, OpenPvP, RealEconomy, EmpireBuilding and Warfare, FPSish Combat and so on.. no other MMO in Development offers all this features.. damn, there isnt even a Sandbox Game in development.

It is quite simple, when i dream of a perfect mmo, Darkfall is as neas as no other mmo i have heard about.. the only question is,  will  it release?.. and can it really  be as good as i expect?

But however... i will play other mmos, will have my fun with a lot of other things, and if it release i will test it, and will see it, and maybe, just maybe a dream come true. And if not.. i lost nothing, maybe the hope, that a game like it, will ever release..

You have been saying "it's comming soon" for almost 2 years now.

Even if the game comes out in the year two thousand never, it will obviously crash and burn quickly. low production values, small target audience, it has failure written all over it.

What if it is not released? Then we wont have any good MMO to play in the future : (  Only WoW-clones (EQ clones) and asian grindfests. Cant think of a more sad ending to the MMO era.

Yeah Im more than a little suspect that this game wont see the light of day. Im pretty sure Im finally going to get that jet car Ive always wanted before ill get my hands on Darkfall.

I think it will be released but be incredibly buggy, missing half its features, crap customer support, and long time periods between bug and content updates. With most likely a very small and immature community just going by what the majority of their forum community is like.

Or really optimistically it will be an okay game that fails or gets very low subs due to the extreame hype it gets from the PvP community thinking it will be the best thing since sliced bread when it releases. And all the immature players and the extreme fanboys will leave due to high expectations or their ass getting handed to them.

I don't realistically think they will release a solid game, not after following the development of it for 7 years and seeing some seriously strange, and amaturish behavior from them as a company.

Of course some part of me still hopes that it will be a fun and successful ( 100k-150k subscribers) game, but I have more faith that Ill win the lottery three times in a row at this point.

Edit: btw wtf is up with all these Darkfall topics being in the pub section? Really is not needed if people were interested in this game then the forum for Darkfall is clearly visible to the left.

If you'd actually do a little bit of research on upcomming titles instead of sticking to stereotypes then perhaps you would realize there is nothing for you to worry about.

PvP'ers need a pace they can call home too.

And when they get it, and it has a success, maybe us that want a sandbox(no open PvP) also can get a place to call home to be developed.

I don't think it will be released, but it will enter in the history of MMO games as the game with the longest development time. (The one in the normal game category has already be taken by the king of the vaporware better known as Duke Nukem Forever..........)

I use to be pretty optimistic, but I'm going to say no on this one.

Im going to be very optimistic on this one and say yes, sometime in Q2 2009. Just my prediction.

The game has so, so much more potential than any game I've ever seen. It's really a shame that many are considering it vaporware.

If it gets released with all those things you said it would still be better than 99% of the trash out there now. Id play it over any game thats out or  coming out if it was released with bugs and crap.

OP, I haven't read the replies in this thread, but here's my answer:

No, I don't think Darkfall will ever be released. And if I'm wrong, I'm pretty sure it will be crap. Hyped games never seems to deliver.
