I've never actually played this game, but I am in desperate search of a fun MMO to play while waiting for the highly anticipated mass coming out in the years to follow (age of conan, warhammer, new star wars mmo, blizzards new mmo, biowares new mmo, square enix's new mmo, and earthrise). I don't know much about this game, but is it anything like what SWG used to be? Is it fun at all? What do you guys think?

It's the best MMO out there.  A bit dated in graphics compared to some newer stuff but they have a new graphics engine coming out later this year.  Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi flavor, not much like SWG.  Don't know why you are waiting on so many MMO's, though, you can't subscribe to them all and play effectively.  Maybe three at once if they are simple like WoW.  If you play AO, you'll need to spend a lot more time just in it to be any good, it's a lot more complex that any other MMO.

This game is everything SWG should have been even when it first started yes the graphics are dated but we are getting an upgrade this year try out the froob account and see if you like it, be warned though the learning curve is very steep I have been playing for years and still have moments of oh my I didnt know i could do that, so take some time and really give it a shot.

this game was ok.  i didn't mind the outdated graphics but i could not get my head around its weird control and combat system.  there was no lore to speak of and not much help for a new player ingame.   but on the whole its a decent game....i must have been on the wrong server and the wrong time

There is an enormous amount of lore but it doesn't jump out and bite you, you have to go find it.  There's an entire novel as a back story, and almost every day people directed and/or paid by Funcom ARK's and GM's) are role play interacting in the game.

Obviously wasn't planning on playing all of them at once, lol. Was hoping for one amazing one out of the mix I could stick to.

You know I just came back to AO after wandering around awhile looking for another MMO (korean MMO's suck, just in case anyone ever felt like trying one) and I don't mind giving some help in game if you are on the Rimor server.
