Originally posted by Arudanel at the time the industry was a little shakey. TSR was failing quite hard at computer games with the DnD IP and gamesworkshop are not the kind of company to risk 15 years of hard work. it was a silly decision on their part but we could only see that now 10+years down the track. imagine if you had the worlds most popular fantasy IP and some unknown games company came up to you and asked if they could make a computer game from it (which had never really done anything good for an IP in the past) |

Originally posted by VincenzI'm ashamed to admit I bought Wow 2 days after release (it was sold out on release for me) and there were very few bugs to it. The plauge came after the release of Zul Guruub when players started fighting Hakkar. It wasn't crash to desktop, get stuck in the wall or my quest doesn't work. It was an unintended effect of something that was working. Most of the bugs (Say the Paladin 1 shotting world bosses) was things working, but the developers not having the foresight to see all possibilities.

Originally posted by pussaykat This sounds as if ideas are important. Games are all about execution & implementation. Ideas are a dime a dozen. EQ takes a lot of diku MUD ideas, polish them and make a successful MMO. WOW is taking ideas from games before it. There is nothing wrong with it.

So basically your saying that it was not a bug because they didn't design it to do that. Well hate to break it to you but that is what a bug is. A feature that is not working as its intended to. Saying its not working as intended is just a fancy PR way of saying they Messed up at Quality Control. |

As for Blizzards innovations in the Warcraft Series: Fully customizable map editor (to date, Warcraft 3 contains the best editor ever released. Ever. Period. No RTS comes close) Strong balance in units Tactical hero-based combat with base resources in realtime (not the first time its been tried, but the first time it actually worked in any real way) Strong dedication to unit balance In fact, Warcraft: Orcs and Humans remains one of the most influential titles in the genre. Unit abilities, resource gathering, they may have been building on Dune II, but they really did create many things in the genre. Anyone who thinks Blizzard never created anything with the universe merely needs to look at that. |

let's face the fact's, Blizzard has screwd up wow more then ever, most ppl loved the normal wow, get to 60 start raiding, start making good friends and guild bonds *that was excellent* then TBC came and screwd up alot, start lvling again up to 70, Guilds get cut down, alot of people/friends quit. and WOHO, another expension pack, so start lvling again, and again they will mess up the best instance ever and make it 25 man *im talking about naxx* so Blizzard will never make anything as good as normal World of Warcraft. They got Starcraft 2 comming *Great game cant wait* but tbh they have reached their limits. |

Originally posted by VincenzI played from launch, and I agree it was buggy. A lot of the lag, and such, was created by the sheer amount of people playing the game though, right? In the beginning Blizzard had no idea WoW was going to be so popular. They did work on this though, and fixed it, for the most part.
Of course I do not play it now though, not due to bugs, but just lack of fun in general. In any case, right now, and when they started to get things in order with opening more servers, the game became pretty well polished, for the most part. As for SOE ... well, I really have nothing to say about that whole thing, I think we know where most people stand. |
