Came across a YouTube video showing the returned animations in action, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRQVeqLxCtg.  Those from pre-nge will likely remember them.

Some work still needs to be done, such as adding more animations to the default attack, but it's a start...

Thats cool that they finally after 2 years brought back what animations Rey Park ( Darth Maul ) did for swg, but dear lord they are still waaaaaay too dam FAST.

It looks silly, but better then the slash slash poke poke you have had since the NGE.

The best and most celebrated additions to the game since the NGE always seem to be things the devs are able to slip by the WoW-a-fied managers while working on their own time.  You'd think they'd take the hint and let the devs actually do what they want to do instead of some marketing degrees with minors in corporate ass-kissing who don't even play video games.

You've been able to 'mod' the NGE animations with the old animations for years, only problem was sometimes a new patch would bork things up.  Last time I was subbed I was running around with the old UI a well as the old animations.

Less something has changed since then, of course.

Why is it the best things these devs can add to the NGE are things from the old game ? some how I expect they will stuff this up just like BM/CH and auto targeting .

cheers

Have you tried any of new stuff added over the last few months/years?  By tried I mean more then just logging in with a Vet trial for 5mins...otherwise it's to be expected that someone such as yourself would only consider stuff inspired from pre-nge to be "the best things" as you haven't experienced the new additions.

Auto-targeting could be done better...but I'm not sure what's stuffed up about BM?

Between the velvet lies
There''s a truth as hard as steel.

Honestly I wouldn't mind trying some of the "new" stuff but I'm definetly not going to pay for it. I know what the combat system is like and that simply doesn't appeal to me. I'd much rather wait until a free trial - and even then the "new" stuff revolves around the NGE combat system so I doubt I'll find much enjoyment from it.

I'm curious about it, but not that curious enough to pay for it.

Currently playing: WoW -Retired SWG Beta Tester (4+ years)

It's amazing that SOE will throw the player base a bone every once in a great while with something like this... bringing back animations.

While SOE won't bring back the old game (which is the most common request amongst SWG players), they will trickle in old items/features.

More of:  Too little.  Too slow.  Too late.

We need more of the old tried/true features that were liked and that worked.  And those features need to be quicker getting to the playerbase/live servers.

After that, they should work on updating the game (not the game mechanics) once the game is returned to a tuned and playable system.

I'm not trying to flame.  It's good that these features are coming back.  (There, I said something positive.)  I guess I fail to see how the NGE is so great if it's so hard to add player-requested features into this new system.  The classic (preCU) and CU systems were apparently broken and a jumbled mess... but how much better is the NGE (from a software/system perspective) if it makes development a longer process?
