The enemy is so dumb! They believe that WE are the enemy! - A famous orc commander. |
Starcraft II is in developpment.
No idea what their next MMO will be, but I would be surprised if they work on someone else IP. |

This makes no sense... Blizzard... Warhammer... and Star Trek have nothing to do with each other. Three completely different things. Chevrolet - Just imagine they take Cannonball Run, do to it what they did to the Mustang... the possibilities... |

Activision bought Vivendi games, which means they own Blizzard. In fact the new company is called Activision Blizzard so don't be surprised if they're doing an Activision IP. |

No thanks, i wouldn't like to play an item, class, level and raid centric STO. I can see it now, your phaser blast crits bird of prey for 2000, you loot replicator of fortitude from wreckage.............. |

Originally posted by TookyG Wrong, Vivendi were the second largest games publisher and Activision were the third, it was Vivendi that bought shares in Activision as part of an agreed merge. |

Does any of that even matter? If they took Warhammer IP and turned it into Warcraft with such succes, logic dictates they could do even more with Star Trek IP. There is more lore, more options and I like SF more anyway, so for me it would be a win win situation. There are some quotes saying that their next MMO won't be abything like WoW so I'm not afraid of it becoming a item centric grind fest. As for the IP, I would like to see Starcraft as an MMO, I realy would, but in this case I think Starcraft IP is too limited for a true universe feel. It would have to be all about war, but I would like many gimmicky features and social aspects so crafters and socialisers can progress doing their own thing and we can fight our own war, so we don't have to fight on the forums and call people carebears and immature. Star Trek could do that much better. That said, I also wouldn't like it to be just a clone, but Star Trek, grittyer, darker and with more destruction, optional ofcourse. And also, there would be no issues with Zerg and finding ways to make them work. More aliens, more faction based progresion and more space could prove to be very fun in an MMO, especialy if the aliens aren't slimy discusting hive type mindless killers. Zerg would be an ideal The Enemy, but there would always be some of us who would rather play Zerg, not just kill it. |
