DOS 6.22 - fuzzy memories...

Try City of Heroes/Villains. People are helpful. I've been playing for a year now and met lots of players who are above 16 - many couples and parents playing. In the end, it's very nice, even in the low level zones people don't call you noob for asking questions. It's an awesome game.

Yeah i've played every mmorpg out there but they have bad communities or I just don't like the gameplay/graphics. I tried Lotro again and I just can't get used to the character models they are sooo ugly and move badly.

i know exactly how you feel. swg vet here too. when will a developer make a game for us? it is an untapped market at this point. with all the wowcentric fantasy clones out there a alternative would fair well i think.

check out fallen earth. the devs said recently that comparing it to sandbox games with wow at 1 and eve at 10

fallen earth would be at 7 or so and would go up with expansions like housing. NO classes. huge non-instanced map. 6 player factions.

arguing with a corporate fanboi is like teaching special education.
even if you teach him something...at the end of the day he's still retarded.

I am playing LOTRO over at Laurelin (roleplaying server) in europe and have to say that the people from level 1-50 were just incredible nice. People gave helpful answers if someone asked for help, people didn't sneak up and stole resources when you got into a fight when you were about to mine etc etc...

Then I started to play PvMP and I am having a blast, but geeeeeeeeez, the people in there are probably the worst I have ever met. Not all of course, because there are probably more kind people than the other way around, but the annoying people are the one that you hear.

Suddenly you're the worst human on earth for playing a hunter, burglar or loremaster? Why? Well, they consider burglar and loremasters to be easy mode and hunters are ALL leechers of renown (pvp-points) because they just stand in the back and "pew pew".

New people in there often get called names? Why? Well, because they will in the next patch update so that you're able to buy rewards at different ranks, so all new players are only playing because they want those rewards, not because they like it, sigh.

If you get stars around your portrait for not getting killed very often, well then you're a coward, so the best thing to do is to suicide ten times or something to get rid of those stars.

And since freeps can have creeps on the same server, you'll hear constant whining about how the freeps are overpowered and how bad we are. One freep got attacked by three creeps when a hunter saw this he helped of course. Guess what, for 20 minutes you had to hear about how stupid the "huntard" was for helping when it was a duel.

I enjoy the pvp a lot and I have to have the OOC-channel open to be able to give and get intel, but most of the people in there are the worst kind of elitists I have ever met and I have played most of the games out there. I can't believe the community that were so incredible while I leveled turned into what it is in Ettenmoors (pvp-zone).

So, if you asked me 3-4 months ago I would say LOTRO without doubt and if you dont like PvMP then I still would. I doubt other LOTRO servers have the same problem, so of all the games I've played I would recommend LOTRO, but stay away from European Laurelin if you like PvP and don't want grey hair for reading the OOC-channel. :)

I'ts incredible how people can ruin a game out of stupidity. And in a RP server.. this is very sad.

hehe really? I remember being frikin blown away when I first logged into EQ1 in the late 90s... 'Dated' honestly didnt come to mind for me personally.

I left Planetside after they removed the glow from the Vanu force blade

Wow... I know it's been said before... but you left a game for this reason? I am pretty amazed at that myself.

Eve Online I left because the game was becoming too popular and I liked it when the game was virtually empty and you felt like you had this amazing game all to yourself and you could rule the galaxy.

So... you want a game with a great community, but your favourite part of EvE was that you had the galaxy to yourself..? I'm a lil confused... :P

I remember Star Wars Galaxies Specially people waiting outside the Star Ports the new players start out at and offering them a guild and free weapons and a house and a mount. The community stuck together and was very close and friendly and everyone chatted to eachother all day and this was due to the social content which drew people together and what games miss today.

I wouldnt argue with this, but you must see that your need to be alone and play in an empty universe flies in the face of this vague idea of social play and community that you seem to have?

I am not trying to flame you, but it would be cool of you could clarify where you are coming from a little? Are you in favour of large open empty games that you can be a solo lone wolf player, or do you wanna be part of a interactive socially rich interdependent community?

If both, how do you see both of these options working in the same space?

Surely it isnt fair to expect everyone else to engage in and sustain a vibrant community so that you can dip in and out of it whenever you get bored of soloing in your empty universe?

However today the developers have got rid of all that social content and got rid of all the players and theres nothing left of what made that game sooo great, not because of the gameplay but just because of the social content that made the community.

I agree.

So now i'm looking for a mmorpg seeing as the only good ones ever made have all gone down the shitter. The problem is i've played everything now and the only one worth playing is World of Warcraft which I love the gameplay and the high polish and quality of it but I just can't stand the people playing it.

There are good players and quality guilds in WoW, just as there is in any other game... I know because my sister plays in one. It is up to you to just find one though.

Please just someone give me a good mmorpg after all these years lol.

I think a lot of us echo this sentiment :)

Well just with EVE it's meant to be space and with that atmosphere I like to feel alone like the early days, but i'd still have my corp to talk to and meet up with but I just loved the atmosphere of it all. Once all the players started coming in now theres spam on the chat all the time and in safe space theres sooo many people and feels too crowded + all the lag the game has now.

I think just it suits a smaller community.
