A good game needs no defending. A bad game needs no forums. |
When EQ2 came out, I set Antonio Bayle as my main server. My early experience was one of rude players; folks with little patience for mistakes (which we all make), and just rude, superior attitudes. I put EQ2 down for several months after launch, mostly because of a dislike in the game design, but the rude community hadn't helped. Then, bored with WOW, I reactivated my subscription and rerolled a character on the Antonio Bayle server. First time out selling a book, I was bombarded with tells of ridiculous offers (like 7P) or jeers and teasing. Logged out and decided that whatever was wrong with EQ2's game design, the community on this particular server is pretty bad. Certainly not friendly to new people or those restarting. Anyone else have that experience? Is Antonio Bayle the home for superior, obnoxious players? |

No, actually, I've never had that experience on Antonia Bayle. My experience says they're helpful, fun and polite. However, I chose my home server as Mistmoore because I had friends that play there. |

I just started on AB this week and it's been one of the nicer communities I have come across in an MMO. |

Originally posted by NadiaIt was OOC in Antonica. Would have viewed it as an isolated incident, were not most of my experiences on that server similar. I'm thinking it's a superiority attitude they've got. They're level 80 now and that means they get to move out of their mom's basement to a room upstairs; who knows. |

I'm with Flem. If you were trying to sell something in /ooc most people find that very rude. If you want to sell it, use the broker or the auction channel, don't use /ooc. Though, personally, I turn off the auction channel. If I want to buy something, I buy it off the broker or off a guild member (though guild usually don't charge). |

even if people find it rude to use OOC for selling,
new players (or returning players) are still learning ins and outs of the game
there really is no excuse for heckling the player in tells, when giving advice would have helped much more |
