So, i was thinking.. is there any reason NOT to chose playing on a pvp server? I mean, WAR is ALL about the war between the order and destruction.  It would be kinda stupid to run past you enemy if you was in war with em. The Dark elfs are trying to claim their homeland back, wouldnt it just be stupid to run past 5-10 different high elfs then, when you are invading what they claims as "their country". I mean, wouldnt the High elfs try to defend their land, instead of walking by the enemy forces, being all LADIDA ? i know there is rvr zones, but cmon, its a WAR, and thats what its all about...

Depends on how you like to play.  If you're the type who wants the possibility of being openly attacked at all times, then a PvP server would be for you.  If you're the type who wants to choose when you enter PvP then a PvE server would be your choice.  Different people have different playstyles and preferences.

Well, they're trying to cater to the pve folks out there.  It makes sense to make certain areas pve only since griefers will most assuredly ruin any sort of pve fun.  If I had my way, there wouldn't be "pve areas" in the strictest sense.  Rather, there should be many high level guards patrolling the area so that any enemy players would be attacked on site.  It would make it a bit more realistic than just completely blocking off certain areas for pve.

I like to keep my PVP and PVE seperate but wish they did it in a way like SWG did their servers because now having more than one ruleset server will just split guilds and friends up which is never a good thing.... add on top of that the localized servers and no forums and you get the sense that Mythic doesn't care about the community.

I sort of feel the same as you, which is why I will go Open RvR (Unless they have Open RvR/RP). I want as close to what a virtual world would really feel like. Where you run risks of being out there on your own far out in the wilds. Where there's no invisible force that binds you from slaughtering those EMO Dark Elves right in front of you just because the area is designated against pvp. If I see an EMO Elf I want to smash its face in.

Although the chicken concept is neat too, I kind of hope they decide not to include it in Open. I personally have never griefed a lower player in all my time ever playing an mmorpg, but it just doesn't seem to immerse me into the world when I know if I cross some line I will turn into a chicken.

dont seems like any of you got the point... the game itself is 100% RvR, every quests is adding to the war, destroying enemy stuff etc. Even the PQ is about the war, and why shouldnt other players then have the possibility to attack you when you are doing a quest  where you have to bomb a bridge that the enemy is very dependable of ?

And to make sure no highlvls are killing random lowlvls there is the Chaos chicken... so a lvl 20 cant get killed by a lvl 40..

So i ask a bit different, again: Isnt PvE servers against the concept of WAR ? the very game itself is a pure RvR game...

I think it's you who doesn't get the point. Not everyone is totally enamored with PvP all the time, but still want to experience the world of Warhammer. Mythic has come up with a way that allows people the option of participating in PvP if they choose, and not have to worry about sociopaths constantly ganking them as they do quests. Don't be so narrow minded.

You can either agree with me or be wrong!

Pure RvR yes, Pure PvP no. The original concept was clearly to have seperate PvE - PvP areas. All the quests and things you do progress the war effort but clearly "War is everywhere" did not equal "PvP is everywhere"

Pheace said it best, "War is everywhere" does not equate to "PvP is everywhere".

They are trying to design pve and questing so you get a sense that you are still contributing something to the conflict and taking part in some battle even if you are fighting against AI. I am hoping for something similar to the feeling I got when I played Tabula Rasa briefly.

The bottom line is they have to have servers that will cater to all types of gamers because the actual bottom line is it is a game.

"What man is a man who does not make the world better?"

Because some people want choice.

The game will be absolutely packed fulled of PvP fun... but many don't want to do it all the time, every second of every minute they are logged in.

Sometimes, you just want to chill out, do some farming/questing/etc.

Sometimes, you want bloody nasty PvP action that makes your heart race.

What EAMythic is doing very, very smartly is that even if you want to take a break from PvP for a bit, your PvE activities are still helping the overall war effort.

Me? I'll end up on an open RvR or RvR/RP server most likely... but only on 1 toon. I'm sure I'll be making tons of alts to try out all the classes and all the different areas.
