Like many of you I have been waiting for a new good MMO to get into for years.  And I almost skipped on PotBS because of all the negative comments from this forum.  Yes you.

I was sick for 2 weeks and just decided to try this game on a whim.

And I have to say I love this game. 

Especially the ship combat.  If you like sailing and strategy based combat that can sometimes get drawn out, you will like this combat.

I have heard some people dis the sword fighting combat, I like it.  It may seem simple at first but there is more to it than meets the eye, again strategy.

I have yet to get into pvp and economy stuff, which I hear is also good.

So to all the MMO players saying this game sucks you people have to learn the difference between good/bad and person preference, seriously.

If you like a certain game play it, if you dont then dont.

If the topic is obviusely flaming the game then dont bother reading it, if someone dislikes or is dissapointed in game, there are better and more construtive ways to show your point of view then flaming something to hell.

Whatcha talking about?  I actually gave this game a better then usual review.  My only gripe was the graphics and there was a rumor that they will be wiping the game on frequent intervals.

So let me get this straight, just because you happen to like Potbs and some people dont, your saying they are Dumb asses for not liking it ?   Sheesh people.

Well I don’t think you should blame the folks at MMORPG.com. I will admit that we have a lot of negative posters and a very small number of constructive posts or reviews but POTBS has adverage to weak review across the board.

If you enjoy Pirate then that’s really good. I personaly didn’t like it and was pretty sad because in theory, Pirates has everything I like. Sadly, these awesome features are not well implemented or to the least not for my tastes.

My problem with POTBS was two fold and I stand by my opinions..

A) The Swashbuckling was clunky and odd.

B) The Avator models looked like crap.

To be fair I found the ship battles fun, but that's besides the point. In short never take anyone's word here or anywhere else as law. Always..ALWAYS give a title you're curious about a fair shot.

errr you based your views of a game on one forums generally "mixed" attitude towards the game?

umm hmm you know when i get interested in a game i usually scout about for reviews maybe thats just me i dunno but somehow i think most people do that or they actually...play...the....game.....  instead of sulking  for over two weeks at the prospect of it being dull......

This site if for people to talk about MMORPG. And God made us different. Some people like this game others don't and by looking at this forum and the PoTBS forum people are not that happy. Why is that? Maybe the game is not that good right now or people just don't like it.

And yes we have some trolls posting here and thats what you get these days. Feed them and they will go on until they are banned by people that can't stand negativ threads about the game they like...

We have threads here where people have been talking about what they like and what they don't like. I do not see anyhting wrong with that.

And we have threads talking about the population. Why? Some say is going up when others post pictures of the servers looking a bit empty after two weeks, if you ask me. And I am a player that like to play a game that have great population so I like to know more about it.

It's a pretty nice game and the ship combat is amazing.

It just begings to wear down when you lose that 70k of upgrades, deeds, and ammo when you sink for the up teenth time.  Or more yet when you're brought back to the server select screen.  Your connection is fine cause you can still see the servers.

I like to see a return on what I do at least.  Losing your items is not much of a return if you ask me.

So yeah it's a good game but issues need to be worked out before folks like me commit 15$ a month to it.  I don't go for potential.  Yes I have patience before anyone tries countering with that.  Nice try anyway.

Generally:

People, who like a game, PLAY it.
People, who do not have the need to log into a game, discus about it in a forum.
That is why a game mostly seems to suck here in this forum.

In my case: maybe I have played too many MMOs for too long. I am lvl 25 in this game now, and I just don´t want to login and do another mission or another open-sea-group-ride. No idea, why.
