Eve is not for everybody, and thank god for that! Button-smashers/cheat-sheeters need not apply. |
I tried other games! but they did not measure up!
Then I found Eve! Four Years later! Still playing Eve!
I wish the big game companies would take a lession from CCP (Eve's publisher) and quit trying to shove bad GUI's and inferior game concepts on the public. Well, i *may* agree if you said Eve is the best sci-if MMORPG. Certainly it is not the best sci-fi game if you stack it up against Bioshock or Half-Life 2. Furthermore, developers who are getting millions of subscribers *are* in-tune with the market, just may be not *your* segment. There is no need to knock them when they can find a bigger audience else where. |

Um, I'd rank at least UFO: Enemy Unknown and the Elite and Freespace series above both EVE and Bioshock/System Shock 1&2... There's a lot of other games I'd put before EVE too. Now, if you're going to say EVE's the best Space MMO in the market right now (or up until now), I'd be delighted to agree with you. |

I like EVE, alot, but TBH there are enough things about EVE that I don't like that if something better comes out I'll be happy to bolt. Right now EVE is the best of a bunch of mediocre options. If it weren't for the CU/NGE I'd still be playing SWG. |

Originally posted by Taram I love you. Swg before the NGE/CU was the greatest thing a star wars fan could ask for. I miss the good ol days of being able to be a TKA, while my brother became the first to be jedi on his server. After the NGE it became empty and dull for me. |

I doubt anything will top EVE online because there are only 2 upcoming mmo's that might be fun... those are: age of conan ( will only have 3000 people per server ) eve has 42,000 on sundays. warhammer online ( will only have 2000-4000 per server ) eve has 42,000 on sundays now... there is one game that might top eve and that is http://www.wakfu.com - 25,000 per server, not a single npc, conquerable islands, can be a governor, over 60 different jobs, 12 unheard of classes.... etc... but you have to eat to keep healthy... which is a drag. meanwhile eve is expanding into Steam ... which will bring in more players, so is ccp going to expand the server capacity? i sure hope so! Let's stop praying for someone to save us and start saving ourselves. |

I like EVE, but it definitely isn't the definitive word in Sci-Fi games. There's lots of room for change/improvement and a lot of things I'd like to do in a space environment that EVE doesn't offer. Combine the best elements of EVE, TR, SWG and some of the early single player space sims and that would be a the game I'd like to play.
