Mother: "Alright dear, the numbers are on the fridge just in case, the kids shouldn't fuss if you put in one of their videos" .... Babysitter: "Ok then, let's watch a movie.. this looks good, Elfen.. Lied? Gameplay beats out graphics pretty much everytime. Mabinogi has decent graphics, great gameplay, I'll take that trade off. |

Originally posted by nightphantom Yeah, but this video will traumatize you for life!!! As an interesting side note: All thirteen episodes of Elfen Lied were aired on regular Japanese television. They don't have the same media standards and practices that we have over here. If I'm not mistaken, the brunette chick from the beginning of the EL clip doesn't get killed.... I think she just gets both here arms and legs chopped off, but I could be thinking of a different series.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2if5GYXOGyo |

Off-topic: Elfen Lied is one of the best anime series. On-Topic: Just ignore the people that want to make negative comments. They've already made up their minds, just a waste of time to talk further with them. |

Welcome to mmorpg.com, where only negative opinions are allowed! Isn't Harvest Moon the game where you can farm, fish, own a house, get a job, etc? Mabinogi offers all that and more, though if there is a better comparison, please say, cause that's really the strength of this game over other MMOs, is the freedom to do whatever the hell you want, you don't HAVE to fight things, well, maybe initially, but not once you've got a few coins in your pocket. Just wish we knew what Generation it was launching with. I'm even tempted to dust off the old webserver and make a fansite for it :) |

In Harvest Moon you own and manage a farm or a ranch, but in Mabi you don't own those and you don't actually raise crops or livestock. You just collect raw materials, craft and trade like other mmo's. What sets Mabi apart from other mmo's is its unique combat system & randomized dungeon so that Harvest Moon part is lost to me. It is more like runescape with updated graphics & more tactical combat. But each to his own I guess, because some can argue that Mabi has HM-like life simulation "feels", but that's a big stretch imo. |

I had to use a proxy for the fileplanet beta key and create a fake account but there's no IP ban on their gameservers. This NA players restriction is only for CB anyway. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that everyone will be able to play at full release, but the CB test is supposed to be NA only.

Its made by Nexon so ofcourse it will get the attention. Probably Way Way more then it deserves. This is mainly because of the deal between Nexon and Viacom. However, I am still iffy on this game because its made by Nexon. The game is probably fun, but thier cash shop formula usually leaves a foul taste in my mouth from experience in Maple Story, one of the grindiest games on the planet. |

Hmm... maybe you should play the game before calling it a grind like everyone else (no offense to you of course, just saying that everyone thinks this game is a grind for some reason). I was able to get to level 15 in about 3 hours. And I toke my sweet sweet time as well. Talking with my friends, playing music in the town, partying with people and killing Golem's and Giant Spiders. I'm guessing that if you really wanted to rush it you could get to level 20 in about 3 hours. And that's barely any grind at all.

All games deserve a fair chance to show their magic via playing before calling them a grind. However, everything I read from the game (official forums, mmorpg, even description) sounds like the typical chinese grindfest with an Item Mall. I can't say there's anything that sounded *that* special. I think it's creative that a player can get fat/skinny and age, but it sounds like the reincarnations to level cost real money to obtain, and are needed to level up anything in game....did I pick that up correct from what I had read, can anyone confirm this please? (Nightphantom/anyone else?) /rant |

With all free to play asian item mall mmo's they let you get to level 20 or 30 fairly fast. After reaching the easy levels, the grind sets in and you are forced to buy items in the item mall. Lower levels you wont see it much, gain higher levels and get killed, you will lose large portions of xp. I dont know of one asian mmo that is not a grind. Ive tested many of them over the years and they are ( all ) the same. |

I see F2P as P2P with an infinite period of free trial. Nothing more, and nothing less. Don't try to convince gamers P2P games are charities. They aren't. P2P's use the same trick as F2P, just with different spins. Both feed on players' addiction to make money; such is sin of this industry. Bite me if you want, but I prefer F2P with cash shop that keeps money in game developers' pockets, to subscription model that breeds countless third-party gold sellers who made no contribution whatsoever to game making. |

Originally posted by Hellmarauder I support your view, as one's opposing viewpoints should be respected first and foremost. Gold-selling is there, no doubt about it, but it's not excessive even in wow (unless you plan to be in the main cities 24/7 at the mailbox). Also, there are ways to counter gold-sellers, if games allow&sponsor RMT for in game items such as gold gear etc (as opposed to third parties doing it), I think you wouldn't see goldsellers at all, because market prices would come into play at that point. However, this is a market that you can imagine most companies are only barely starting to consider (balance issues among other things). However, the quality of games that are P2P vs F2P seem to be on a huge magnitude of difference if you're looking for more eye candy, more people, more originality. Even stuff like SCO were cool games in some sense or another, but I have yet to hear of any F2P that has been known as "amazing! OMFG amazing", etc. I'm curious about the last sentence you said. How does a F2P with item shop/cash shop keep money in a dvelopers pocket any more than a subscription model does? Both are just trying to find ways to keep their customers, and neither pay dvelopers if the dev has no work to do (aka employment, duh)...F2P making it a semi-requirement (or requirement in some games), and P2P being forced to make a game good enough for people to want to play (aka continually raising the bar on quality). /rant |
