I'm going to start playing Eve today. I never thought I would get into it, but I have been playing Potbs the past 2 months and actually found quite an enjoyment for the slower pace action and coordination in fleet battles. Potbs is extremely restricted on massive combat and I played french (even with the biggest society on server) which are severely disadvantaged both by faction size and game design (french start off with horrible port layout and -20 victory points). Anyways, I digress.
I will be on roughly 6 hours or more mon-fri then 12+ sat sun. It would be around 1 p.m.est until around 10ish and earlier until the same time on the weekends. If anyone wouldn't mind showing me the ropes and teaching me about PVP then please let me know. |

when you first start playing eve, you'll be inside a npc corporation where players can help you... don't worry about joining a good corporation just yet... you've got a lot of skills to learn... and if you plan to stay for more then the 14 day trial, learn all your learning skills first, there is 6 basics and 5 advanced learning skills.
have fun

Don't focus exclusively on your learning skills first, only do it when you've completed an immeadiate training goal. You only really need to have your learning skills high when you've graduated to large gunned ships and beyond or t2 items. |

OK first of all you will start off in a NPC corporation with many other newbies. Use the Corporate chat window to ask questions in. There are corps out there who love to take in complete Newbies like you and train then, The best one I've heard of is called EvE University. If you join that Player made Cooperation then you should do pretty well learning wise. Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981 |

Do the built in tutorial and then join the channel Eve University. They will take it from there "And thus I clothe my naked villany/ with old odd ends stolen forth from holy writ/ and seem a saint when most I play the devil." Shakespeare's Richard III Act I Scene 3. |

I disagree. It depends on the role in game you wish to play. This may work fine to get into corp combat. I started out as a miner and manufacturer. For me it was definately a time saver to get my learning skills up first as industry draws on many different skills to be able to show a profit. The point is more that it may get boring just training learning skills your first month and also trying to grind up 25 mil in a frigate. If you're up to it that's great, but training a few fun skills to keep you entertained / able to grind isk faster is certainly understandable. |
