I tried asking this question in Avery's thread that he posted prior to him leaving for his trip. I don't know if he just forgot or just doesn't know or what.  So I will ask it agian to anyone that does have the information.

Will people be allowed to twink their lower level characters like they could/can do in Funcoms other MMO Anarchy Online and like you are able to do in WOW?  Its a simple question but for some reason people avoid it like the plague....

To me this is just one of those game breaking game mechanics that I personally would rather have left out.  And for the people that will whine and complain and say there is nothing wrong with equiping your character with the best gear at that level, your absolutly right.. But there is a problem with being able to equip gear/enchants/buffs that were not intended for that level...  

In Anarchy Online A level 19 character could twink him self up so good that he could have the NTU space to run around with about 5 or so level 200 buffs  which lasted a hour a peice.. I won't even get into what that did to pvp when you had a level 19 twink with level 200+ HealoverTimes, Damage shields, Strength buffs, etc running around... I actually was able to make a level 59 doctor  twink that could solo group instances (bosses and all) all by himself... For those of you that play WOW just think of a level 39 priest that could SOLO SM Cath....

Thats just 2 examples there are many more (exp in WOW) where it is now twink city in PVP.. Not to mention it ruins the games enconomy...Since it seems like every piece of grear that has a 7-9 as the last number is like triple or more the price that it used to be prior to everyone and there daddy making twinks.

I have not played AO at all, and i got sick of wow really really fast. I also have not done alot of reasearch on this game either. BUT from the looks of it AoC focuses alot in end-game activities, high end pvp and gvg, raiding, etc. Even though though there will still be twinks possibly why should u even care? i mean from the looks of it all the fun is to be had at lvl 80, so just out lvl them. Also in wow there are lvl based arenas right? where people earn titles and such? i never saw mention of something like that in AoC......

Bottom line imo is, let them twink all they want, with FC's focus being on end game lvl 80 content u probably wont even have time to pay attention at twinks while rushing your alt(s) to lvl 80. Assuming of course u actually tried playing through the lore and story of the game and didnt just masochistically grind yourself to lvl 80 the 1st time....

p.s. i see no reason why a full party of 80's would be at a disadvantege when facing a mixed party of 80's and 40's both in pvp and pve

From what I understand AOC will not just focus on end game pvp.. You will be able to pvp from the moment you hit level 20... And if its anything like Anarchy Online (FUNCOMS other MMO) you will be able to PVP with a purpose (ala hold land, etc) at that level.. So yes it does make a difference when people can Twink at low levels..

Why im sure most people would love to twink and hide behind a enchant or high level buff, some of us would just like to play the game the way it was intended and let skill be the deciding factor not how many High level buffs you have running or  high level ehchants you have on your character that will stay at that level forever.

As i understood it, there wont be buffs. More like auras. It sounded a bit like EQ2 buffs and spells. You only can use very few spells and buffs outside group there. Nothing that makes a lowlevel uber. Either the buffs are groupwide only or AE. Or both of course.

But it is obvious that a rich highlevel can buy very good crafted or maybe looted items for his alt.  He will be better compared to someone who just started the game or refuses to twink.

I used to have a 29 twink in WoW and it was a blast. Its what actually kept me playing when I would have quit do to end game getting to be too much of a grind on real life. Hiding behind and enchant and no skill involved is far from the case when i twinked. We would go against alliance guilds that are just as twinked as we are and it would be amazing games. I felt that it was as close to a real skillful battleground as you could have.

At 60 and then 70 it would be the exact same bs you were just complaining about except there are more skills and the hp/mana/attack levels where much more. If you say that a 29 twink takes no skill and say that end game is where all the skill is then you sir are a hypocrite.  I knew many many people who would complain about the guys in naxx, who had t3, that would destroy kids who haven't raided and just hit level cap and started pvping. I felt twinking was a cheaper form of getting endgame top gear and it was a much easier way to get it (in fact everyone could do it). Now dont go and try to flame me for not doing well in endgame because when i quit, right after the bc came out, i had 5/8 t3 and various hwl gear on my mage.

I would love to see twinking in AoC except they might rework the bgs or w/e is in AoC to have an expert (twink) type game along with the normal kids who are just leveling and decided to pvp a bit.  AoC would be a more fulfilled game in my book if there were ways to twink.

Like i said i see no reason why a full grp of 80's will have a disadvantage compared to 40's. That being said u actually have to siege the other guild's castle in order to take it from them. Why would any1 in their right mind bring twinks to such a fight?

From what i remember no arena will be in the game either. I therefor ask again: why would u twink? so u can go around 2-shotting people your lvl who will outlvl u in 2 days? be my guest

One more thing, the best gear for pvp is suposed to come from pvp also, so u might want to consider pving mostly on your lvl 80 toon so u can gear him out the best u can. U never know when u will end up taking part in a siege.... I wouldnt like getting 2-shotted cause my gear sucks bawls, would u?

This is sorta what I wanted to hear and so far it sounds pretty good.

I guess im in the minority when it comes what people think about twinking.  How people think that it does not do more harm then good is beyond me.. Expecially when I state facts that have happend in previous games to include FUNCOMS own MMO.  I guess some people really do not care about something like that, but oh well.

Maybe one day I will be able to play another PVP MMO where skill mattered and not the gear you TWINKED yourself into or the outside buffs.  I was fortunate to play one that was like that but sadly SOE ruined it, if AOC will not be that game perhaps WAR will they seem to understand so far from the info they have put out.

Twinking is ok by me.  If someone can help another character out, why not?
