Stand up for what you believe; Even if you stand alone. |
There was one for BioWare, so now it's Blizzard's turn. Cast your vote for which IP you would like the game to be:

Based on Starcraft, but not simply WoW in the Starcraft Universe. The vehicles are a large part of Starcraft. I want to be able to use those vehicles. I'm not sure exactly how you do that, but I want to be able to "use" a battlecruiser, a wraith, a science vessel etc. And I said "use" rather than "pilot" because I don't necessarily want to step inside a battlecruiser and "fly" it per se. I would like it to be more like E&B or EvE where you have ships that you can purchase and fly and can add weapons systems and shields and whatnot to them. There should be battles in space between these vehicles. There can be battles on the ground too with siege tanks and space marines etc. I'm not sure exactly how you get that, but that's what I want. Maybe something similar to Planetside, only with Blizzard's touch. Make it happen Blizzard. |

What Pappy said. A tactical space-ship aspect like Eve online without the PvP, and a ground-based (or char-based, since you can be in space stations) aspect like WOW. And mix those two up :) And i want to be casual friend & solo friendly (which I think we will get since we are talking about Blizzard here).

A new IP considering that SC2 is being developed right now. And Diablo is off the table since Blizzard doesn't have any of the original team members from both D1 and D2. -- Brede |

I voted for Starcraft as i want to see a World of Starcraft with 5 year old graphics hidden by an 'Artistic' style. Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981 |

I'd have to say Starcraft. First off- the codename. Hydra..as in lisk. Second, the timing. We got War3. then Frozen throne. Then WOW. Now SC2. Third- they have a LOT of high-quality Starcraft models already made, they just need to re-rig them for a new engine. ie: Starcraft:Ghost. It won't be WOW2. Not with an expansion not even out yet, etc. If it was Wow2 they'd have kept it alot quieter to prevent people from abandoning the current WOW.
It's possible it could be Diablo3, but with the Burning Legion in Azeroth, and all that, they got a mortals vs Hell game out now. Why compete with your own IP.

I voted for new IP, whilst Starcraft would be interesting if they adapted it to an MMO, I don't think that is what their next MMO will be. |

I would hope that it is based off of Starcraft, for the simple fact that there is lore already in place. There are other reasons as well, some of them being: a) WE NEED A GOOD SCI FI MMO! Tabula Rasa and Anarchy Online are all we really have at the moment, and they pale in comparison to what Blizzard has done with WoW. b) Lessons learned. Blizzard learned it's lessons from games like Dark Age of Camelot and EverQuest to create WoW. Now they've learned lessons from WoW to make whatever this game will be. Despite having quit WoW, I remember not being able to get enough of WoW when it released. It was only when they started to focus on the hardcore player that I lost interest. By the time they refocused the game on where the REAL money is (the regular joe with a regular job) I'd already moved on, but by doing so they only increased their numbers legion fold. They still went on to make mistakes, and to be honest, I'd be surprised if you saw much more development going into WoW after the next expansion due simply to this game. c) They have the BUCK$! If there is anyone who can reinvent the MMO....again, it's Blizzard! They have the dollars to back up massive research and development and they ALWAYS release a well polished product. Far too many companies out there are busy trying to emulate WoW (flattery, I know) but not a lot are trying to do something new (props to Tabula Rasa, a definate step in the right direction!). What would I like to see in this game? Regardless of where it's based? 1) Player housing of some sort. I want my little slice of whatever/wherever. It's my precioussss 2) The ability to upgrade my mode of transport. I like what Vanguard did with various types of barding, bridles, horse shoes and saddle bags. 3) Player based economy. Again, I'll talk Vanguard. The majority of REALLY good items in the game are player made. The crafting system is quite complex and set aside as a seperate class. 4) Something other than crafting and fighting. Like Diplomacy in Vanguard (that's three references, sorry folks), something to do other than the typical grinds like crafting and fighting. If nothing else, they provide a welcome distraction from the tediousness of doing what you know you need to do. 5) Something other than levels to rate advancement. This is where old school SWG gets props. It was AWESOME being able to custom tailor your character to what you wanted to do, and being able to change it anytime you wanted was even better. To put the cherry on top of this awesome sunday, having players train other players to attain the Master rank was brilliant and helped develop a sense of community. Sadly, it's gone. What a waste. Would I do the whole block skill thing? Maybe something a little more individual IE: individual skills? 6) BIG FRICKEN ROBOTS....with laser beams on their heads! If it's Sci Fi, I wanna be able to eventually purchase and pilot a jeep, tank, jet, mecha, whatever. I'm serious, the cool factor would make me pee a little. With the success of Transformers the movie and the upcoming projects of the Robotech and Voltron movies, the iron has never been hotter for striking! 7) One world....many factions. It would be great to keep the three factions of Starcraft, then eventually allow player guilds/corps/governments to splinter off and form their own factions. This could lead to the development of technology crossovers for truly unique encounters. More facets to the PvP (if there is PvP) means more opponents and the less likelyhood of teams being stacked. 8) Player input. Given that current technology exists and a player has a great idea for new tech, put a means ingame for that player to submit their idea! Think of it as free content consultation! Obviously there should be no handouts. If the idea is good, give the player credit and the steps in how to achieve said target. I personally believe that when players have a personal stake in a gaming world, they are less likely to leave it for another. Well, I'll stop rambling now, but I'd love to see what others have to say. Cheers! |

why would anyone want a new IP? the starcraft story is laid out, lots of people already love it, not to mention korea which has SC as a national sport. it gives presidence for zerg pc's fairly easily so there would be 3 races to choose from. mounts would be small one or two manned vehicles or sky bikes or something and then later in end game, multiplayer tanks and ships. how cool would that be? call me a lazy stoner, but with an established history and fan following, why would they do a new IP (not another fantasy game PLEASE!!!!). it just seems like it would be a waste to not continue with the story but maybe they are reluctant because of how ghost didnt really take off or do anything for that matter |

Flagship Studios AKA developers of Diablo 2 are now working on a little game known as Mythos. So I highly doubt it'll be a Diablo mmo. |

Btw, some people is voting what they WANT, perhaps I missundertandet the thing but, I was thinking that is about what will be. I dont really think Blizz will take a look to this poll to decide wich will be their next mmorpg.
And for the last, I think it will be starcraft world. Why? cause they got lot of work done, they can easily get a big history, is a space enviroment, they can mantain fantasy players in wow with updates, is really easy to introduce new races, just came from this planet... or the other one... and if we look at their progression, after starcraft (brood wars) they focused on Warcraft with RTS and with WoW, so, is normal to think that they will bring sc2, with some expansion, while they develop Starcraft Online or whatever... |

Loot Online. No story, no leveling, only looting. You can ask NPCs for loot, grind mobs for loot, farm faction for loot, buy money for loot, gank lowies for loot, go afk for loot, ask GMs for loot, farm loot offline, rob a bank for loot, grind arenas for loot, get a friend to play Loot Online for loot, ask santa for loot, flame others for loot, praise blizz for loot. It will have 20mil, no 30mil active players after 1 month! Everyone not playing wow is a wow hater! :P |

WoW2: No. Just, no. They're not that stupid, and there's even an expansion coming out sometime this year (supposedly). SC MMO: Possible, but I highly doubt it. I mean yea SCII is in dev, but in my opinion, that's not even the main reason why Blizz wouldn't do it. The SC universe would just be difficult to turn into an MMO. Terran? Yea I could see that, not too hard. Protoss? A bit of a stretch, but doable. But Zerg? How do you expect to have Zerg as a playable race? You play as a larva and then decide what class you want to grow into? Zerg don't use "gear" persay, they don't use vehicles in the same sence that Terran and Toss use them (Zerg "vehicles" are merely other living Zerg). I just foresee it being complicated. Plus I don't want them mucking up their other RTS IP Diablo: This is possible. Kids, yes, the original Diablo dev team left, but that doesn't necessarily stop Blizzard from making a new game. If this is an MMO, then there will be a slightly different spin on the game anyways. New IP: This would be my first choice. I'd love to see what else Blizzard can come up with. |
