How much does the job pay? Only unethical companies neglect offering a salary range. |

Hm, I have no idea how this is handled in US, but here in Germany you will find that most job offers have no information about payment. So this is really not unusual here. I can´t remember a single job oppotunity I applied for that mentioned the hight, or even a range, for the payment. It is simply not done here this way. It has nothing to do with this being unethical or something. So, in most job offers you will get asked what you are except to be paid, and hopeful you are not too far away from what the company wants you to pay. |

It's the same in the UK, which is where Codemasters is located. Wages are rarely ever mentioned in an ad. Usually you hav to contact the company or the agency doing the hiring. It has absolutely nothing to do with ethics and everything to do with standard procedure. So stop grasping at straws trying to mud sling.

They were paying AD to do this job till december. And .. the salary was pretty low. something like 9,50$/h .. but that's canadian dollars, Not US or EURO. (My friend was a GM there) I heard they are giving more, but, why they didnt keep the contract with AD if they're going to be higher. Soo, You need to know that's something near 10$/h |

They really need to go into more detail with this if they are expecting professional applicants. For example do you have to actually work in Germany (it implies that you do) or is it possible to work from home anywhere in the world as long as you have access to the relevant tech? What rewards are on offer? I have 15 years high level Customer Care experience, 8 of those as a manager in high level complaints. 29 years experience playing video games, 10 years in online games. I am fed up with my current job (37 hours a week of un-challenging repetition) so I am looking elsewhere but this tells me nothing terribly useful. For example working in Germany = forget it (I love living by the English seaside). Working from home = Perfect. And no self respecting customer services processional in the UK would consider a role without being aware of the basic remuneration package. I have been looking at job ads for several hours a day and its rare to see no data at all.

on the site they ask for a CV and a cover letter, i'm only 18, almost 19, been at my first job (still current) for almost 2 years, not much experience in applying to jobs. So when they say 'CV' that would be a resume, or what exactly? |

yes, a CV [Curriculum vitae] is essentially the same as a resume. In my field, you list your major publications in your CV as well as your current research. A resume is supposed to be a single page for readability by employers [and usually only includes former employers/work experience] while a CV can be rather extensive.

|

I strongly recommend limiting a CV to 2 sides of A4 paper (2 page word document). Most job vacancies attract dozens if not hundreds of applicants so a large CV is likely to be overlooked. I have emailed Codemasters to find out more. No reply so far. It pays an okay wage, it's working for a company called Sitel/ClientLogic out of one of their offices in Dusseldorf. They are seriously short staffed at the moment and training is given for the games in questions, (Lotro, DDO, RF and AL). If you are interested in being a GM, or rather a ticket whore, then it's a very good chance to get in the door. However it's still just customer support work, instead of a telephone you have a keyboard, don't go expecting lots of power or being able to do events or anything. |

Not a great deal of interest to users of this site then really. They would save a fortune if they used staff members that worked from home. There is no doubt that the contact centres of the future will be set up that way. I know BT are talking about it (I was on the conference call) and some organisations already do it.

Hmm! I thought I had included the word "most" in that first line. My bad. I was implying that not a great deal of the users of this site could take advantage of this vacancy as they were not physically within working range and homeworking was apparantly not on the cards. A pity as I think most avid gamers would enjoy a career in the industry. I am a big fan of the idea of home working having commuted 20 miles each way per working day since June 1993. Lots of fuel and time wasted. Hence looking for work near, or beter still 'at' home.
