--Developers that create cookie-cut MMO''s deserve failure!-- |
WAR is nothing new except the standard run of the mill cookie-cut level based grind fest! Even the UI looks and feels just like WoW. AoC is no exception, both of these games are nothing more than game designers, developers and companies trying to steal market share away from WOW in order to make money! bah, i hate the fact that here we are in 2008 and all people can come up with are carbon copy's of games that have been around since the 1990's!

It's also the same as pacman as both are played on a computer with a screen attached to it. How new does a game has to be? The whole concept is already diffirent as far as I can see |

It's actually about 67.4% different then WoW. I've done the calculations.... "You'll find a great many of the truths we cling to depend greatly upon our point of view." |

and WOW ripped off EQ, and a million other games that came before it. Though if you want to get technical, WOW is just a Warhammer MMO without the liscence, or the war since Warcraft copied the look of the Warhammer miniatures game years back. But I'm fairly sure I got a book from when I was a kid somewhere where it had green monsters under the bridge with big axes and hunched backs... so I think Warhammer ripped off the Grimm Brothers....
Face it, nothing is revolutionary. Or few things anyway. Doing things different just to be different, well that's how we got ET on the Atari....
I'd stop whining about nothing being totally new, and instead think what you like about these various games, and then try and find yourself one that combines those various things. If you're waiting for a totally new MMO, you'll likely to die of old age first to be honest. Maybe a new twist here and there, but that's hardly a revolution. More of an evolution.
Not trying to bash you here, I know where you're coming from. I hate the level grind too. But what other options are there? If players don't progress somehow, they don't play. A skill based system? That could work well, if it's done right. But the cost of developing one that is done right, and then the headaches of explaining to gaming-illiterate CEOs and Investors why you're doing that, and not copying the biggest game there is... LOL. Fun times. Forget the big AAA titles if you want inovation, and watch those little korean games like Flyff, some of those are pretty odd, and look to be fairly fun. Investors aren't going to hand out 30 million and say 'Ok, now go try something weird, and see if it floats.'
PS- Love the Dead Horse gif there. LOL

I can't believe they are still making Mario. It's been like 20 years. Can't they think of something new? |

AoC is nothing like wow...... gameplay, graphics, story line, control system, interface all completely different cant go into much more than that NDA. WAR ive not realy seen much about it, graphicaly it has the cartoonish graphics which is similar to wow i guess other than that dont realy see anything that makes it a clone. Both these games have the standard MMO feactures which countless other games have wow is no exception there name one orignal feacture in wow? wow is a warcraft themed game they spent more on pr/advertising than the game lol |

I guess WAR gameplay seems to be very close to WoW gameplay. But who is trying to hide it? Noone is. |

How can you compare the gameplay? People rarely get into the damned beta.
In response to the OP.

what i dont get is why so many people think WOW was the first ever mmo, i mean the reason why wow did so well was it stole the best bits from a numerous number of mmo's before it. the devs have even stated that. so how can you say anything is a copy of wow when its a copy of other games? |

Originally posted by sabutai22 Perhaps war remembers you a lot wow but... wow was a "compilation" of other games, a "copy"... yes... nothing new, a grinding fest. Then, why are you trolling with posts like this with war and aoc, and not with wow? |

Hmmmm, perhaps a Submarine MMO would work.......... Nah..... WoW has cows and elves that turn into seals, so that would be a clone as well. |

Originally posted by sabutai22 I always love the "it has WoW's UI" argument. It is laughable because most of WoW's current UI was borrowed directly from the mod community. Whenever someone made a mod that everyone considered a must-have, WoW incorporated that feature, so WoW's UI is a pretty good reflection of what people wanted out of a UI. If I were making an MMO UI, I would take a close look at what players of the genre's biggest success wanted most out of a UI. |
