So I decided to give the trial a shot and I am happy to say I am really enjoying it. I dont know if I will have as much fun as I did pre-NGE/CU but I can honestly say that the game is very fun. To all former players I say why not download the trial and give it a chance you never know you might like it. |

WE have. The games sucks now, and you'll realize that in a couple hours. The game is NOTHING compared to Pre-CU. It has almost all the faults of Pre-CU and none of the virtues. Just 10X more grinding than was ever in the old game. There is nothing redeeming about SWG:NGE and it will probably close this year.

No need to try the free trial, they reactivate my account every so often (probably when they want to take a headcount of how many people are playing in order to justify keeping the damn thing running) and I find that the game is abysmal at best. |

OOOO another reason for me to rush to download the trial (again) and give it (another) chance. Usually it's 3 strikes you out, but I kept hope for up...Now the New Hope has turned to dust. I learned my lesson though, and will not try again. 1. CU Each time I went back, the game has "evolved" into more of an abomination than the last time, without anything I was concerned about addressed or changed or fixed. Have fun playing with the Frankenstein of mmorpgs. |

So many of you are just complete asses let him have fun, you go have fun with your selfs ok. The game is a lot better so many have returned to Starsider that its gettting laggy at peak times. Lets those that enjoy enjoy, you don't have to mock them. Gosh so angry about a game!

Though this statement of yours caught my attention, you state that the game is getting soooo much better that a server is getting laggy at peak time. I would like to know, for the record, do you stand behind that statement of yours? And that is why... Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness. |

The CU is supposedly an upgrade to the old combat system, and modify many things. It made combat difficulty visible and make it so that it matters in combat (like level to the class system). And it made many changes that many dislike, so there was a large number of players left right after the CU. It was promised that the CU is the last time the game would be drastically changed.
The NGE is the second major change that happened to SWG. This time, they re-design the core game from the ground up. Compress the 32+ professions into 9 "iconic" professions, and made Jedi a starting profession (before you have to unlock Jedi, now you get it without any work). This massive change made those who left in the game more furious due to the fact that the announcement was right after the online order of Trial of Obi-Wan, which contains something for the professions that was now removed by the NGE. Many vets were vocal about it, and were told they are the "vocal minority" and thus in the end, the vets walked out the game, and the population drop drastically. (Pre-CU 300k+, CU (200 - 250k), NGE (50-70k estimate) Since then the developers left in SWG focus on bringing some aspect of the PreCU/CU system back in another form in NGE, and hope to attract the vets to go back. But that didn't work as many vets do not wish to play the game with the core system of NGE in place.

That's true. Saying something positive about SWG in the Vet's Refuge is asking for trouble. Or as I like to call it, The Old Whiners' Forum. See, watch: <rant> I don't know which of you is worse, the NGE-haters or the 'WoW is dieing (sic)' crowd. It amazes me how people get so incensed over a video game. Reality check; SWG is still around, still adding content, still signing up new players, still making money. You're a minority. A very vocal, very antagonistic, very narrow-minded minority, but a minority nonetheless. The NGE was 3 years ago, and if it hasn't been revoked by now, it ain't gonna happen. The way I see it, you have two choices; you can either continue your tirade of futility, or you can unclench your collective sphincters, admit that the game was fun while it lasted, and move on. </rant> Okay, fire away... Evil will always win, because Good is dumb. |

I dunno about you but I pay money for my games - which makes them products and therefore susceptable to the same critisims as any other product. |

:P The problem with me is that my sarcasm is always on so strong that it becomes hard to actually flame anyone and be taken seriously. *sigh* I do hate SOE though, no mistaking that. My personal vendetta with them is what keeps me from all of their games. SWG is just one casualty for me, there are so many others. I'd feel worse about that...but,,.
It turns out those games didn't end up all that good anyway. I won't lie, The Agency certainly looks intersing from a purely design perspective though. But I just knew PoTBS was going to be rotten. When the Disney PoTC gave me more sea-combat joy right out of the gate, I figured something was going wrong there.
I digress...I ranted and none of that had anything to do with me trying to flame you for baiting me. Perhaps a more willing fish will come, no? I can probably guarantee it, actually. |

Originally posted by ZsasZ Actually, its more like you getting food poisoning from the Big Mac and making sure people knew that you had gotten food poisoning there to make sure THEY didn't. Granted, you would stop doing so if Mc'Donalds proved they have improved their quality. Turns out SOE hasn't, thus the cycle continues. At least for me, anyway. |

It actually wasn't baiting, I really do feel that way. That being said, however, I understand that this is a public forum, and my opinion is worth just as much (or as little) as anyone else's, and I respect everyone's opinion. Don't call it baiting... call it catharsis. Evil will always win, because Good is dumb. |

Originally posted by ZsasZ You want to rant and at the same time invoke people to flame you, that fine. I could care less. But get your fact straight. The "vocal minority" was the company line given at the release of NGE, saying that those Vets who complained were the minority, and will be replaced by new players. Guess what? they are wrong, more vets walk out and cancelled their account, and certainly they stop calling us the minority. For the population left in SWG is only a fraction of what it was before even with the "new players" signed up. So it was already proven that we are not the minority here. You are.
