I got this email late last night from the Fury website:
Chances are?. you are a
Or will you prove us wrong? Now, I'm no genius, but would you really want to insult a potential customer repeatedly in an email? The subject line of the message was: "Loser! Loser! LLLOOOOSSSSEEEERRRR!" In total, they referred to me as a loser 6 times in this one email. If this is what the company is like, I can just imagine the trash talking maturity level inside the game. No thanks!

Oh my god. That is wrong on so many levels. Not to mention pathetic. I'd definitely post that on their official forums and ask them if that's in any way a professional way to treat customers. To me they are just a bunch of sad ass losers who can't put together a game that holds my attention for 5 minutes, and them having to resort to emails like that proves my point.

I say , finally a marketing with guts. It is funny and challenging. A gauntlet.
And people that whine "I am insulted" are just the very reason why everything is so lukewarm , limonade , political correct

I got the exact same E-mail and now Auran games goes directly to my spam folder. I've been receiving their emails since beta, hoping the game would eventually improve but this latest idiocy shows I'm not their target audience if they thing something so transparent and juvenile is going to inspire me to play their crap game again. |

I got the e-mail too, and now I have another FREE game to play . Downloading the client now. I <3 f2p I personally enjoyed the beta, but as a pay to play title it just didn't have enough inside the game, it felt like a mod of a game engine. It is a great f2p game and shouldn't be over looked because of bad marketing. This is a huge step up for the f2p market. |

Just another fine example of the immature nimrods running the game. Gee, wonder why it failed? |

Fury is a fun game with great potential for pvp. I liked the idea of a gutsy marketing strategey why not it beats half the soft labaled adverts around if you dont like it dont play it.

Originally posted by fusionx212 I would hardly describe an insulting email to potential new customers as a "gutsy marketing strategy" -- an idiotic strategy maybe, but not not "gutsy." A better approach might have been something along the lines of: "Do you enjoy challenging, fun gameplay? Here's what our game has to offer and here's why we think you'll enjoy it. It's free to play, so why not give it a try today? We think you'll have a blast!"

but thats picking nuts and bolts as to what they put and what you would put. i accept that it is insulting to put loser as the title but the IDEA is to catch attention and it has done that.

Originally posted by fusionx212 I could be wrong, but I thought the IDEA was to get me to download their client and play the game. In that respect, they have failed. In fact, their email had quite the opposite effect. |

Think you are to hard on it. Imagine you are at the end of your ropes and you needed to vent through a marketing plan, it would probably come out like this e-mail. Until you can be put in there shoes, give them some slack. Support indie, you all want things that are different,, here is yet another different xconcept heading the way of the Ryzom. WEither start supporting the ideas or stop pretending you want something new. |

Insulting marketing strategies rarely work. My email I recieved from them (i alpha/betad game) the subject said Loser LOOSSeerr LLLLLLOOOOSSSSEEEERRR. and I thought, "what are these jackasses sending now?" I read through it, and sure enough they were indicating that no one had a undefeated streak in combat in their game, Then they preceded to say, come on back prove us wrong, or dont and continue being a LOSER. I was laughing so hard at this feeble desparation that they are showing. not really a bad post at all, why should companies insult their potential players? Playing: Not much actively. |

Originally posted by MortisRex Same here. I finally forgot all about this game, and then I receive this mail. Indeed, if they think they can now address their target audience with insults, I am definitely not target audience. 'Transparent' and 'juvenile' are indeed spot on. I had a good laugh about the insanity of it all though ------------------------------------------------ Playing: Guildwars, single player games |

Nickman, you are simply wrong. No where in my original post did I hate on fury or state that I was mad because I didn't know how to play the game. In fact, I don't play the game, and other than about 20 minutes in beta, I've never played the game. I don't even care about the game one way or the other. This post was about their marketing strategy and the effectiveness of sending a somewhat insulting email to potential new customers. Not a flame or come off sounding snarky, but if you choose to respond to this, please take your time and try to make it legible. Your earlier response was very difficult to understand. |

That's probably the worst marketing e-mail Ive seen for a while. I dont find it insulting, I find it hilariously failing. Seriously.. trying desperately to be provocative or not, the writer of that text should try any other field of work but copywriting. Originally a PvP only game tries to call you a loser and challenges you to come back to the game to win against? Be a loser or fight NPCs that "love to lose"? Whopping "tens of thousands of players" that Fury used to have, but no longer has? The post gives a pathetic impression of the game. Though accurate, I can't imagine the intention of the post was to sabotage Fury reputation even more. I can understand their marketing department for leaving the company, or going to an extended vacation until the humiliation of Fury launch passes, but you still shouldn't let interns write marketing material. |
