Well, apparently a Single Player Game that playes like a MMORPGer...

Watch out for the Easter Egg at the end... may not be work place friendly if you leave the sound on...

How is this relevant to PotBS... well because PotBS plays like a single player game which is odd for a MMORPG game.

Meh - if a Mod moves it to general discussions then okay.

Boo......

Hmmmm.....ya lost me on this one Gyrus.  PotBS plays like a single player game because......there is no forced grouping?  Curious on how you arrived at this single player thing.

I'm pretty sure those two ships I sunk last night during PvP were being controlled by real people....if not the AI has certainly been upgraded.  Additionally the guy that sunk me was named "Ilostmy Marbles" or something.....mighty peculiar NPC name.

This is certainly a multi-player game.

I couldn't make it through the link you provided.....lol, I lasted 20-30 seconds.  Damn that dude is annoying.  Perhaps that would have elaborated some on where you are coming from.

Well, I wouldn't be the only player to have played to level 20+ without ever really interacting with other people in this game?

Yes, it is Multi Player, and yes you can PvP.

But, if I go to a Solitare Convention... does that make Solitare a Multi-Player game?

Agreed, I played to level 23 on my first character in beta...without every dealing with anyone but NPCs and the very rare conversation in Nation chat.  Fact is, people play a new game based on solo'ing at first...and this is a very empty solo experience that could be a real detriment to them long term.

Quite many Mmo games which have been released in few years fit that description. So you can name them "Solitaire a Multi-Player game" also.

Is good thing that you can also solo in this game, but to have fun you have to belong to a guild. Then you can work together on economy, do some combat together etc..

Played: Quite a few Mmos
Playing: Something

Yah, I'd say the game is single player or; if you have a RL buddy, you two can form a convoy, choo choo.  After my buddy went home, I played another hour and, wow, the game world felt completely empty.  It might have to do with the fact that you never sail by someone and see them fighting; because that all takes place in instances.  This is about as impersonal an experience as you can possibly have.

But, I did have fun my first night of playing (tonight)..

Your definition of MMO and mine are completly different. You see an MMO as a forced grouping game. I see an MMO as a choice of grouping or not, more game should do this. Then why play an MMO? As most love to argue about non-forced grouping, simple fact is I can play with my friends which is what started the MMO craze to begin with. My friend wanted his friend, then his friend wanted another and so on and so on. So the need for a persistant world with many players was born. None of which was forced anything, but you robot players want everything handed to you.

Got me why people want simplisity in game play, there is then no challenge, might as well watch a movie. Anyways, getting off topic, but games that allow you a choice allow you freedom, those that force something down your throut live a short life. People left LOTRO for this very reason among the fact that there was no end content. But now, you can go there and see the devs posting "MORE SINGLE PLAYER CONTENT!" we never wanted just single player content, we wanted the option, if I have friends make it harder, if I don't then don't , simple really.

Certain things should be group only and rightfully so, but I shouldn't be forced to group with your ass, because for all I know your a jag that will steal my loot. Thank god there are games that don't force me to deal with people, because some are just streight assholes.

The game can be played solo; however, get in a good guild (Society) and start grouping up. Start up a planned out production line for several people to make ships. Get on TeamSpeak and go raiding. It is a blast!

With this deck of cards, you chose Solitaire, I chose poker :)

This is a lousy version of Sid Meier´s Pirates... Its so arcade game that even have the option of ´difficult´, so you can improve the numbers of ships and enemies on missions if you have friends (God forbids to improve AI, lets just put a slide bar of difficult and when they pick more difficult, more ships we put, like we did in the good old eighties!!!)
