We are still getting posts about SWG pre-nge. If SOE were to create a original server would you even go back? I for one would not. There is a small chance I might go back if all my stuff and stats were the same as the day I left but that would not happen.  The game is dated and if I had to start fresh I would not regrind my almost 3 years of effort. Also all the alliances, friends, and economy would not be the same as the day we all walked. Here is my poll to see if you would comeback.

Forum Poll

Would you return to an original SWG server.

No never!
Yes no matter what!
Yes if I could start exactly where I left
Yes if game graphic were updated.

I would try it out. For some reason it sounds pretty fun to start all over and rebuild everything we have lost :)

Your a better man then I Gunga Din. I do not think I could do it a second time but I might be able to start where I left off. Note I said might.

i would, even though I would totally expect them to make another move that completely screws me out of everything I worked for again.

it'd still be worth it. I wouldn't go for jedi though, I'd play purely as a crafter this time.

The price for freedom is eternal vigilance

I dont want "classic" SWG servers, that is a bad idea, as shown by Mythic in DAoC.

DAoC had a similar fiasco with Trials of Atlantis ( that and several smaller mistakes that eventually will be the death of an awesome game ).

Mythic created classic servers free of Trials of Atlantis.

However this divided the player base in 2 and gave another blow to a hurting game ( you need enough players per server in an RvR game ).

I think the same will happen to SWG, half the players will jump the "classic" servers, the other half dont want to leave their home ( server ) behind.

No, the only thing that can be done is further improve the game, to get back to it's roots. So reversing the many changes they made in a couple of steps.

I bet some changes may be even good, so they can keep those.

However following things should be implemented/fixed again :

- Player crafting
- Skill system

I would vote for seperate pools for crafting / entertainment / combat.
I always found it harsh that if one wanted to craft, he could never become a fighter.
I like the EVE system better then.

Also a real FPS combat system would be cool in my book, I loved Planetside.

However changing the core game AGAIN, would undermine it's continueti again.

So honestly I don't think SWG will be able to get me away from EVE-Online, as EVE-Online has proven to be a stable growing game, with alot of longetivety. Remember that EVE-Online was as bug infested as SWG was at launch, but people saw its potential and stuck with it. CCP fixed alot of bugs and added free content ( as part of the monthly sub ) and created a living world.

If SWG would have done the same, I would be playing SWG right now and would never tried EVE-Online ( I do not regret it tho :p )

Greetz.

As a matter of fact I'd insist on starting over from scratch. That was the best time in SWG, when people needed each other and developed the community from the beginning.

It would be a great way to meet new people that I wouldn't really get to know otherwise.

Boredom is in the temperament of the beholder.

Yes if Ryzom closed. I never got to play SWG pre-NGE, but so many people who liked it came to Ryzom that it must be something I'd enjoy.
