What he's saying is that (I think) the fact that it's an 360 game the pc version will be "dumbed" down to fit the console controllers This is exactly what I'm talking about, quoted for truth I kinda understand OPs point. May be he a bit overreacted since the game is not out yet and you can't be sure how 'consoled' it is going to be. He also might not have done enough research in terms of game mechanics thus he does not completely know how things are (Neither did i). But i want to say just one thing. Having game fit the console is pretty much gimping the mechanics since you can't make controller fit into stuff the mouse is used to do. For example if console player and pc player would meet in fps i am 100% sure the controller user would be sack of meat for the beating. What the op was trying to tell is that keyboard+mouse is usually more versatile than controller. And if the game is made with console part in mind it usually means that it has the controls/mechanics made the way to fit controller playing style and some features either removed or made less vital to create an equal playground. Lineage 2 for example it can be pretty much played on equal ground with both mouse+keyboard or controller. You do not need to change your viewing point too much to face the character since he is not moving much either. Imagine if FFXI relied a lot on moving your VP around to face your opponent and deliver blows instead of just standing still and picking options or clicking icons. And even then those things are important in PvP mostly. Seriously how many mobs circle-strafe and backstab you in WoW ? With this said i hope you understand the point of the OP. And if someone says they won't buy something or don't like and provide the reason for it remember that its their reason and they do not force it on you, but are just voicing their opinion. No need to tell someone he is stupid because he a bit overreacted or his reason for not playing seems stupid. Since some people might find your reason for playing actually even more stupid.

Originally posted by mo0rbid I agree with dobbsie213. Porting the game to the 360 will allow people without cutting edge computer graphics to enjoy the game without having to sacrifice the visuals. I'll probably give it a go on the 360, too. As for understanding the OP... I do understand his position, I just don't share it. And he seemed to be able to handle the flamers perfectly fine. In fact, he flung some poo at them, too. Are you his mum? |

My comp is already more than two years old, and will be almost three years old by the time Conan releases in May. If it doesn't run smoothly, I will seriously consider getting an Xbox for Conan (and other games), and just keeping this rig for web browsing and email. |

Originally posted by -exoUhhh, dude, first of all AoC will be different than FF, you wont press "a" to auto attack someone, most likely u will press a direction on the D-pad or something. you wont click "a" to make you start runnin to an enemy and then attack it. This game IS skill based on many levels, with combos, spellweaving, etc. And making the game avalible for 360 will not bring more children to the game, the damn ESRB rating will remain the same, you dumb fuck. SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP BITCHING YOU DUMB SHIT WHINY ASS BITCH! |

Doritos are indeed awesome. and the OP smells of fail and old cheese. PC-console releases have never really hurt an MMO. The big difference between the two in FFXI was graphical resolution and lack of a mouse on the PS2 version. Honestly though, who uses a mouse in FFXI anyway? FFXI supported (read: practically required) a keyboard via USB on the PS2, and does on the 360 as well, I'm sure. No worries about communication or control there. And skill? In any PC MMO that's been released up till now? Ha. Ha. Ha. Kids and morons are everywhere. Go play WoW, go play GW, go play anything. You will find them. Stop overreacting and go back to your hidey hole. And I look forward to ruining play with bedtime, but not 'cause I'm some kid. I've got that little thing called a Real Job, along with it's good buddy Commute. Oh, and yeah. I didn't read the last four or so pages of uh.. educated debate. Just figured I'd be honest. -------------------------- |

I must say that I've never been a PC gamer and I never will be a PC gamer. PC gamers suck, and they're arrogant enough to try and rule over console gamers. By the way, just built my first PC back in November of 2007, can't wait to play AOC on it. And, I just bought Crysis today ... SWEET!! PC GAMERS RULE BABY!! Yeah, it's pretty cool. I am disappointed that everyone would make such a big deal about playing with 360 gamers. I personally will be playing this on 360 and PC, and if it wasn't coming to 360 I wouldn't play because that's where all my friends are. I played FFXI (only MMO I've played) for the 360 and the PC gamers were awesome to party with, and I asked guys if they could tell I was playing on a console ... they had NO idea. NO FREAKIN IDEA!! Anyone who plays on consoles, plug a usb keyboard in to communicate and some of my friends even plug in a mouse. Personal Opinion ... its NO big Deal!! Also, why not have 360 servers, PC servers, and combined servers ... for me I'm all about a combined server!

As an aside. I was wondering quite how things like combat complexity would get dumbed down by a console, especially when I keep considering things like shooters... They account for target shots and effects in many modern games, and location of the shot ends up mattering allot. That has absolutely nothing to do with what system you are on, just as well the ability to sneak up on someone and kidney shot them or stab them in the back has nothing to do with what system you are on. Either way you are walking up and using an ability.
The great thing about using a controller? Radial Menus! Without doing anything you can have eight things bound to the 360s Dpad, four away from a whole quickbar. What else, you can make it so those A, B, X, Y buttons open up radial menus that you press the Dpad quickly for!. Or you can make a combat chain that you line up abilities in and press a button to activate as you strafe and weave about your oponent and hack at him.
Point being. You can't look at the amount of buttons the thing has and assume that people can't come up with a way to do more with it. Also to note, the great thing about the PS2, PS3, and 360...they all can use the keyboard/mouse...not sure about the PS2 with th e mouse but both next gen consoles can use a mouse too.
Not to sound rude, but honestly if someone can't find a way to make an involved and complex game on a console that's just as enjoyable and well paced as a PC game, then they're kinda an idiot... As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero. - Vaarsuvius |

And what about patches, content upgrades and whatnot? While I am aware that modern consoles support most usb devices, I just cannot see AoC for xbox actually require mouse+keyboard+hd to play.
All in all the more I think about cross platforming the less excited I am about the game, and this is the main reason why I will not be preodering. I guess we will not know for sure till the game is out (on both platforms), perhaps AoC will be the first game out there that got the multiplatforming right. @Funcom:
