* You could meet up with real english-speaking GMs in-game. And they could solve your problems? * You could go to the dedicated Chat window from the Log-in screen where there were dedicated moderators, GMs, and CRs available 24/7. And, they could take care of issues for you. Such as giving you a 'World-Kick' if you were stuck in the geometry somewhere? * Griefers and Abusive people were dealt with quickly and harshly. Mainly because a GM was there to look at the logs and witness the bad behaviours? * A new piece of Leg Armor with +1 Wisdom on it was really, really, something special. * I remember getting my first Fine Steel (no bonuses) 9 dmg Mace for my young Druid. It was a very nice gift from a passing high(er) level. Worth about 2 or 3 Platinum (which was a LOT back in the day). * I remember how excited I was to discover I could gather Berries for my (ever hungry) Hafling Druid and would only have to BUY milk. Allowing me to save those precious Coppers to buy my Spells. I miss those good times. How many times did I gather up my Group's Copper and Silver, Port to Rivervale, ATM at the Bank, then Port back to my pre-set Bind point at the Camp. Bringing back the converted, and now much lighter, consolidated coin (coin weighd a LOT then). Good Times. |

Hubba Hubba! (After 5 minutes this is the best I can come up with) |
It is amazing how some harsh reality balanced by good customer service can make a game fun. |

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |
As I grow old, My mind becomes a bit fuzzy. "And a Druid's ability to Port was an important part of the game." I thought mages did the port, the druid was SOW? Or am I wrong?
P.S. I miss em too Torrential |

Everquest is my second 3D mmorpg that I have played and enjoyed the most (the first was meridian 59 and I didn't like it too much) and all previous mmos are 2D (UO, The Realm, etc.) My first character in Everquest was a halfling warrior from Rivervale named Swordhand, he dual wields two minotaur axe and is claded in full banded armor. Back then (in 1999) a full set of banded armor is hawt stuff and minotaur axe is probably one of the most popular weapons next to fine steel weapons. So at level 20 I feel buff enough to leave Misty Thicket and wander around Nektulos forest (back then Nektulos is a safe "teen" zone and isn't infested with high level undead yet) and stumbled into to the massive western commonlands where I first met a dark elf player and a werewolf npc (which was promptly killed by the freeport guards manning the checkpoint). While minding my own business and enjoying the scenery something attacked my character from behind and in a few seconds it took, I saw the dreaded "You have died. LOADING... Please wait ..." Reading the logs, I saw "You have been killed by a griffon." I quickly ran back to the commonlands while butt naked and yelled "Has anyone seen my corpse?" |

I remember standing in the tunnel in East Commonlands to sell my wares. Stuff like patchwork armor, ya know the high sellers for your lowbies. When people would "sell" castings of SOW for 1-3p. Camping Raster, oh wait I think a monk is still camping him now... Using Research skill to make and then sell off wizard spells, on my necromancer. <sniff> memories... |

The enemy is so dumb! They believe that WE are the enemy! - A famous orc commander. |
Originally posted by Czzarre I find your post interesting.
I am not that confused yet and could have correct you as the other poster did, hehe...and he uses the correct term, wizard...not mages...mages have pets and cast CoH.
But, why I find your post interesting is not to correct you, or anyone. It is because it display that we are forgetting and we realize we are.
EverQuest is fading, progressively, into oblivion, for all of us...and it seems to all affect us, in a nostalgic ways. I am not as far as you are on the path of oblivion and forgetfulness, but I am advanced enought to not understand more than half of what the devs were talking about. :P
Goodbye EQ...eventually I will recall you as much as I currently recall my grade 6 class...can't name anyone but 2 or 3 persons anymore, from Grade 6...I doubt I would be able to recognize more than 20-30 peoples now in EQ...considering I did know most of the players on the server back than...(A PUG-lover gets to group a lot of peoples hehehe). |
