The 22nd rapidly approaches when the PotBS Pre-Boarding ends and the game switches to Retail Release...

My Prediction:
The system in place has NO GRACE PERIOD for those waiting for their Retail Keys.
I think that is a very big mistake and will earn FLS yet more bad customer relations as many of the players in the pre-boarding suddenly find themselves LOCKED OUT of both the game and the FLS forums.
(The reason for this is that the company running the launcher (no names) apparently cannot organise themselves to do this?)

I predict a rise in activity here as a result.

There is also the issue of the patch released during the Pre-Boarding apparently making the game unplayable for many?

Then there is the distribution of the Retail Boxes - the previous attempts at distribution were a complete failure - will this be different?

There will be an increase in the number of players as all the people with Station Passes try out the game.

So, what do you think will happen?

Well, let me preface this by saying even though I don't like the game, I still wish it a successful and smooth launch for the folks who do.

That said, I really could see it going quite badly.  There's some serious issues with the last patch, the beta didn't seem very full to me, the stress testing quite limited, and that could cause some severe server issues.  I'd also expect, with the rush of non-beta players, to see like 80% of the population being pirates LOL!

There are multiple reports of the game showing up in people's mailboxes today.

I do agree that a grace period would have been nice, and expected as it's pretty much the norm these days, everyone that I know that preordered the game recieved it today (the actual retail copy of the game that is). So I don't think there will be many issues come Tuesday, at least not as far as people getting their copy goes.

Also, you are right about some folks having issues after this last patch but from my end the game is playing pretty much flawlessly since the patch. Towns have no more lag for me (and I am on Blackbeard which packs 900 - 1000 nightly for the most part through pre-boarding), open sea has no lag at all for me, I have everything cranked up and the game is running smooth as silk now. SO I'd imagine that those having issues after the patch will get sorted out and things will be fairly smooth for Tuesday across the board.

I'm expecting a really good launch personally.

Who wouldnt wish for more time to play this game or any other game without buying it for $XX.XX, it was just nice to play the game before launch anyways and not having our characters erased and building the player base economy to get things going.

This was also a good time to seperate the real players that will be playing and the ones that wont be playing.

The game is running fine for me and I dont expect the launch day to be any different than any other day that we have been playing. I will be just glad I dont see the people that are playing it, because they got a pre-order box and only spent $5.00 to $10.00 US Dollars to say how much the game sucks to them.

For that, I am excited, they will stay clear of this game totally and hit the next mmo that comes by so they can rant about..

I predict that the Station Pass people will have to buy the game first. Otherwise, the patch came today, so unless another is coming the preboarders will not need to patch.

Ah... good point Orphes.

The Client isn't free is it?  I really didn't think of that.
It's all very well to be able to play on station pass if the client isn't free.

Some of the other clients are free though aren't they?  Planetside?

 

 

Planetside could be, maybe Matrix also.

With the station launcher I could download that and Matrix and play as long as I had Station Access. Which was at that time maybe 20 or so days left on it.
