Hello folks, I like many people probably had a fair share of doubts of Vanguard, but after playing the game for a month, I have to say I enjoy it a great deal. There are plenty of things for anyone to do. I found myself finding feelings experienced when I was playing EQ1 and UO. The world is vast, yet players are friendly. There is something for everyone, soloer or grouper. I have a lvl42 shaman now (Rumulus) on Seradon, and constantly finding new aspects of the game. Character development is in depth, crafting at 21 is a monster. I tried a little diplomacy, that is an adventure in itself. As I am adventuring with the shaman, I find myself increasing more interested in many other classes of Vanguard, and will one day test them out. My machine is by no means subpar, 3.0 ghz intel with SLI 8800 gt 512 with Vista Premium. I can run the game at about 80% max graphic, lacking probably due to Vista. The graphic is intense even at my level, there are often times as I was flying through the world on a raindeer that I marvel at the beauty of the game. There are truely adventures to be had here, and I have seen more and more people entering the game (including the increasing frequency of gold spammers). Play the game and find out for yourself!

Most people who don't like Vanguard don't have doubts, but have played before and were appalled by the performance and bugs. I played at launch, and the game was...well, in short, it was a complete mess. I quit within a week. I came back just before the server merge(with a new computer) because I had heard the game's performance had increased dramatically. It really hadn't, and I quit again. Now, I'm hearing again that performacne has been greatly increased, and was thinking of coming back, and after seeing that I had seven free days on my account, decided to try it again. This time, I was not disappointed. The game has indeed improved a LOT in the way of performance. I can actually enjoy the beauty of the world without lagging constantly. While the game still needs work, it has improved greatly, and is really fun now, and with the changes and improvements outlined in the Producer's Letter, the future looks bright for Vanguard. I think I might be staying for a while. |

I have V:SoH until the 20th and while I was impressed with the overall performance improvements the game still does seem unpolished. Is SOE working to just getting the game playable or are they also working towards tightening up the over all feel of the game? Sometimes it feel like an old F2P MMO as far as the way graphics interact. You see NPCs fighting each other at the beginning of one newbie zone and they are basically standin "in" each other. The fire also in the burning buldings in that zone causes no damage when you run thru it, whats up with that? I really want V:SoH to recover from its bad launch but is SOE working on the little details as well as the big picture? |

I always like the game, as for performance I could run the game from launch. I'd get lag in some zone's but for the most part it ran fine.. /shrug amd/ati all the way I guess. I like the open feel too, I can't wait to see what they are going to do with the new customization of pc avatars. I'm worried they'd take one of the only unique parts of the game out. |

How long did it take you to get to LvL 42? I really want to play this game, but I am involved with WOW right now, but the graphic shots I see of VG is just outstanding!!!!!! At what LvL do you get a Mount? What is the best soloing class?, DPS\Healer\minons

I'm still very new to Vanguard myself for all practical purposes, so my advice about classes probably isn't much help. I can say that I solo just fine with my disciple (martial artist healer) so far. It's been great fun.

I got to lvl42 in about a month. I played pretty heavily for that month. The main reason however is due to the 50% exp bonus for the holidays. Mount is fairly cheap, starting at lvl10 for about 10 silvers or so. As far as soloing classes are concerned, I think most classes can solo in some way or the other, even though I haven't really tried much other class except shaman. |

Awesome! Glad to hear that this game is turning out to be a somewhat success. I played about a week after launch, quit about a week later because of crashes and the amount of bugs, plus my PC was crap. So, I went back in about a month after that to see if anything changed, just during the server merge, and I ended up playing for about two weeks, then quit. I stuck to DDO for a while, now I am in WoW because I'm bored with life. If this game is as good as you guys describe, I will most def come back; especially now that I got my new PC (4gb RAM, nVidia 8800 GT, 3ghz Intel Core2Duo, 300gb hard drive all running on XP / Vista.(split hard drives)) Hope to see some of you in-game soon if my decision becomes final! (EDIT): This is the most positive Vanguard thread I've ever seen. *knocks on wood* Current: DDO |

I found out that V:SOH was free for a month to people who had an account. So I downloaded it and patched up like normal. I logged in and was reminded why this game blows more #$$% than a whore on dollar night. I immediately crashed to the desktop, couldn't log back in for over 30min, and after I finally logged in, the lag sent me back to the stone ages. I saw no difference from launch day. I hate to say this, but this just needs to die. I am so good, I backstabbed your face! |

One thing to say about people that crash to desktop. It may very well be that you have a virus that you dont know about. It happened to me before and when i got the virus off (nasty one called "avpo") everything was just fine. I don't think most people should have a problem running this game at all. On the note of the OP. I love this game. It gives me the great feelings that UO and AC did. Im really glad to hear of you guys having fun. Its so rare to find a positive thread in this site. Keep playing and anyone that wants to join up, we need more tanks on saradon |

I have to admit the problems that he listed were more than likely nothibng to do with the game. i have not heard of anyone having problems like that in a long time. how anyone can compare the game now to the day it was launched is beyond me, they either didn't play it at launch or have never come back to play. |

The three rules of Vanguard: 1) If there is something wrong with the game, with either hitching, ctd's, or the like, it's always the players fault. Examples: "You have a virus, your cpu prolly sux, you prolly aren't very computer literate an therefore... dumb" 2) If a player has a valid issue with game, derail the topic as fast as possible by arguing with OP either on how he presented the issue or with how the OP worded his issue. Keep focus off the issue. 3) If anyone becomes vocal with their displeasure with Vanguard, it is your duty to tell them to "Go back to WoW". You know it's true.

Originally posted by Dwarfman420 There are ten thousands of people out there who has no issues playing VG. No CTD's no BSODs. Then there are people that have lags, and ocasional crashes. But that is because of their computers, did they really try to play other demanding games like Gothic 3 or Crysis? I doubt so. VG is not running worse than those on any system. REALITY CHECK |
