Yeah, you're right. There's ”very little” difference between instancing in WOW or LOTRO and zoning in EQ2. All those loading screens - it must've been my imagination.

all zones in EQ2 are instanced - everything
in EQ2, you can have Commonlands1, Commonlands2, Commonlands3, etc when its busy these are public instances -- anyone can enter them
WoW has private instancing, limited to only same group or same raid
will not see Barrens1, Barrens2, etc in WOW
you may not consider EQ2 zones as instances, but they are

EQ2 is just as much of a grind as any game to keep your sub money coming. They hide grinding under stupid quests. Killing 10 bunnies is for stupid Korean grinders! In EQ2, they give me a quest to kill 10 bunnies, which kicks ass! |

Yet...ALL MMO's HAVE this in one way or another...and we will never escape it... But, I digress. Luckily, there are variations on the kill 10 bunny quests in EQ2. I can collect various books for my home. I may get captured by the Southpaw's and thrown in jail, and have to escape. I have to do an investigation and question various people to find a missing person, gather food for a starving halfling, make various equipment for crafting quests for the military... The list goes on...but, hey, focus on those kill 10 quests. At least there is more than that in EQ2, unlike other games we will not mention..(Ah...ok I will mention them...WoW and LOTRO..) Later |
