I always see Vanguard sitting on the shelf looking lonely at the store.. I hear most of it's big launch problems have been resolved, but what's 'special' about this game that makes it worth paying money for, since as I understand it there's still no free trial?

Thanks!

If life is but a dream, then why must we row so hard?

There are tons of posts about this, just do a search and you will get your answer.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

I would wait for the free trial. My understanding is there will probably be one within the next few months.

There's nothing too special about this game... and it doesn't perform too well. Plus it's boring. I'd play EQ2 or something instead.

I re-sub'd this week and im loving it due to:

graphics

big world

fun pvp

takes a LONG time to get to 50

cool looking armor

mature community

boats,mounts,flying mounts etc.

the majority of crashing and bug issues have been resolved and the performance has been greatly improved, it's fun as hell now.

Yes. I just resubscribed too and I am loving it thus far.   Whether or not it has staying value for me is a long way off, but for the immediate future, I will be playing VG and quitting LOTRO.

I'm definitely in the 'it's worth trying' camp.  It's not a perfect or entirely polished game, but everyone knows that going in at this point.  If you can put up with minor hitches here and there, there is a ton of promise here I think.

I really like that the world really does feel huge.  I don't get that feeling of vaguely hidden 'walls' around areas like you do in World of Warcraft (not a slam against WoW here, I think that is probably the most fleshed out and heavily polished game on the market these days, I just don't have the inspiration to play it right now).
