Who mentioned instances?  I must have missed that.  The world in general, leaving WoW out, ummm AC1, when did it come out?  When did EQ2 come out?  Loading screens FTW

many current mmos support public and/or private instanced content

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instance_dungeon

* Anarchy Online
* City of Heroes/City of Villains
* Dark Age of Camelot
* EverQuest
* EverQuest 2
* Final Fantasy XI (instances added with the Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion)
* Guild Wars
* World of Warcraft
* The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar
* Tabula Rasa

future games - WAR and AOC will be supporting instances too

any MMO with instances - *require* zoning and loading screens

Do you understand the difference between instancing and zoning?

Obviously not.

Obviously you don't know the difference either, as there actually is very little difference.  The two go hand in hand.  An INSTANCE is just another ZONE under the definition.  And to get into that INSTANCE you have to ZONE into it.

Yeah, you're right. There's ”very little” difference between instancing in WOW or LOTRO and zoning in EQ2. All those loading screens - it must've been my imagination.

all zones in EQ2 are instanced - everything

in EQ2,

you can have Commonlands1, Commonlands2, Commonlands3, etc when its busy

these are public instances -- anyone can enter them

WoW has private instancing,

 limited to only same group or same raid

will not see Barrens1, Barrens2, etc in WOW

you may not consider EQ2 zones as instances, but they are

After my third attempt with EQ II I'm sad to announce that I have canceled my sub again (after only 5 days) and deleted all my characters.

I just couldn't get over the 75 freak'n quests in my quest log.   Every time I go to a zone to clear them, I just end up with more.   I'd delete them and just go around kill'n stuff (which I enjoy) but you need to quest to get AA's (now 140 aa points).

So if you don't like to quest, this might not be the game for you.

The frequent and prolonged zoning got to me as well... otherwise an excellent game.

R.I.P.  Dimple O'Doom  lvl 43 Gnome Berzerker... sniff.  40 aa points and 75 unfinished quests in his quest log.

And no you can't have my stuff (its all gone).

Are you joking? You hate the game, because you get good quests and can level entirely from quests...

KKTHXBYE have fun in your korean grinders.. shesh.. why did you even post here.. you're just going to get flamed.

Maybe you expected it to be like EQ1 the ultimate grind fest. Should have simply asked a few questions and anyone could have told you otherwise. 3rd time? Why would it have changed? Yes they're going to suddenly remove all the quests because people want to grind AAAHAHHA.. oh god that's hilarious.

Zoning is better then seamless. You are allowed higher quality zones with better visuals then compared to a seamless. Nothing wrong with that and if you got a decent comp it only takes a second or two to zone.

Anyway, good luck on your next game. I'd suggest Lineage 2 if you're into that whole grinding crap.

Sounds like an angry fanboy

EQ2 is just as much of a grind as any game to keep your sub money coming. They hide grinding under stupid quests.

Killing 10 bunnies is for stupid Korean grinders! In EQ2, they give me a quest to kill 10 bunnies, which kicks ass!

Yet...ALL MMO's HAVE this in one way or another...and we will never escape it...

But, I digress. Luckily, there are variations on the kill 10 bunny quests in EQ2.

I can collect various books for my home. I may get captured by the Southpaw's and thrown in jail, and have to escape. I have to do an investigation and question various people to find a missing person, gather food for a starving halfling, make various equipment for crafting quests for the military...

The list goes on...but, hey, focus on those kill 10 quests. At least there is more than that in EQ2, unlike other games we will not mention..(Ah...ok I will mention them...WoW and LOTRO..)
