Originally posted by xXSeraphielX I agree with this statement however have you all ever stoped and thought that mabie they have implimented a skin color chooser. Granted they havent mentioned it at all but every game seems to have it like a standard thing. also if your looking to the race thats just black well only two games have ever actually done that and I wouldnt say that every game should aslong as they put the skin color chooser in which as I said most do. Mabie instead of asking why you havent seen it ask is it there is that part of the charictor customization. Also just because a game doesnt feature a certain skin color or what ever does not make them racist its a fantasy world remember its not always gonna fully tie in with the real world. |

... So I says, "Supercollider? I just met her!" |
Zoodoo I hate to say it but you're being racist. You're promoting a double standard that one race gets special treatment over another race. First of all, the whole point of the game is that IT IS NOT REALITY. That means that there doesn't need to be black people, there doesn't need to be frogs, there doesn't need to be strawberries. They made the game with WHATEVER THEY WANTED, and that's the way it is. If you don't like it, create your own fantasy setting and compete with them. In addition, everything they put in the game has to be approved by Games Workshop. They will not change their game setting which has been around for 25 years just to appease you. If they did, they would look like idiots saying "We changed our game to appease some upset black people". Not only that, but they would look like they're giving one group preferential treatment, and then they'd have to change their game for asian people, and white people, and jewish people, and so on. The whole idea of that is dumb. Secondly, here's where you're being racist. You're promoting a double standard. You're saying that they have to have some "black warriors and mages" in the game. You want them to add a completely new set of models because you want your human to look a certain way? News flash, Games Workshop has set the way that humans look and they don't need to change it. So if you're all for adding a new model of human to make them look the way you think they should look, then you're all for changing the other models to what I want them to look like, right? What if I think all the Dwarves in the game should look like real life people with dwarfism? What if I think Orcs should have the option to look like LotR orcs, AND also an option to look like the EQ1 orcs? (I thought they were interesting). Oh and you should change elves to look like the keebler elves cause they make good cookies. So on and so forth. I highly doubt you think any of these are good ideas. They're not, and they'll never happen because those are the rules Games Workshop set down long before Warhammer was ever going to be an MMO. You're being racist because your double standard ignores another group of people. We all get the same exact models, with the same options of skin-tone. You want something different, you want special treatment above everyone else. That is wrong. Right now we all get the same models. Witch-hunters have the same models. Marauders have the same models. Squig Herders have the same models. All people from empire have the same looks with different skin tones, all high elves have the same looks with different skin tones, etc. This is fair, this is equality. You get what everyone else gets. You wanting them to make a special case just for you is wrong. Although it appears you are overly obsessed with race in other games, you have to remember that they're games. They're not reality. The whole point is that they are NOT like reality. Stop taking real life racial obsessions into a fantasy game, it's not healthy. |

OP needs to get over himself.
First of all, unless a game is directly linked to OUR version of Earth, there is no reason to have the same races/religions/whatever. Secondly, I guess I'll go boycott Rockstar Games, since I could only play a black man in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. What were they thinking of making the story take precedence over my right to be white? Or asian, indian, whatever? This thread should never have been started and is a /fail of epic proportions. |

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors but we borrow it from our children. By Some Guy. |
Ah the issue of racism and prejudice in gaming........ I'm not touching this one with a 90 foot dwarf......*cough*
MMOs that I am looking forward too are Age of Conan and Stargate Worlds, they shouldn't be prejudice.
Oh right not touching this one with a forty foot elf. |

Seems perfectly reasonable to me, we all want characters we can identify with in our games. Little girls want little girls as the protagonist, black people want black people.
Warhammer has clearly missed a trick. The more customiseable the better in my opinion. |

We went through this with Lord of the Rings Online as well, and the answer is the same here: while the setting includes Africa and South America, the online game does not encompass those landmasses. Vanguard had proper black human races because they had the proper environments for them. The whole idea behind Thestra, Qalia, and Kojan was to allow for each of the major racial archetypes we're accustomed to on Earth. Warhammer Online is confined to geographical areas in which it just wouldn't make sense -- not to mention that the only two playable human races are the Imperials (see: Germanics) and the Norscans (see: Nordics). I assert that if there was an MMO based on Ancient Egyptian mythology, people wouldn't bat an eyelash if it didn't include pale characters. This is simply the reverse scenario as far as I'm concerned. |

MMO''s are my business, and business is good! |
Originally posted by SaerainAnd as such, I am perfectly fine with arabs, africans, and hispanics, not being in a game if the pre-existing lore/universe/ip doesn't support it. But, like I said earlier, it would be nice to see my race and other seldomly represented races in more mmos. Also as I've stated before, I do not expect a mmo to add my race, or other races to please me and/or other races, if it messes with the existing background story/lore, if there is any. I do not want the racial tensions/political and religious beliefs/propaganda of the real world, to invade our game spaces, and I'm sure most of you don't either. All I was saying, is it would be nice to play my race for once, as was the op. |
